Try shaving with a little bit of lotion instead. That will give your skin a little more protection from the razor. I use a bit of Hollywood Cocoa Butter.

I also tweeze my facial area. It helps reduce the amount of shaving that I have to do and allows my skin more time to heal. If your hairs are tough you might also want to apply a warm moist washcloth for a few minutes before shaving to soften the hairs and open the pores.

As for the rest of the body I bought a women's electric razor and it has been a life saver

Having just shaved five minutes ago ("No, really! Thanks for sharing, Kate." ) I thought I'd chip in. I use Gilette Satin Care for Women for Dry Skin; it's thick when applied and seems to ease the rash dilemma. I also dab on a bit of the Kiwi-Chamomile soothing lotion that came with my disused box of Nads, and it works pretty well. They should drop the sticky stuff and just sell the lotion. Anyway, I still get a bit of rash, but it goes away pretty quickly.

Have you ever tried using bikini zone? It is made for the bikini area but I also use it on other places that break out after shaving. It is really just an exfoliant that keeps you from having ingrown hairs. I use it in the morning and at night. At first it may take awhile for the bumps to go away (couple of days), but if you continue using it (even on days that you don't shave), your rashes will go away or at least get better.

Hope this helps!

I to have fought the battle of razor bumps. While I still have them slightly I have started a new routine. I make sure that wash my face evernight with Oil of Olay soap and use a pore minimizer to clean my face. I then use an astringent and put firming lotion on my face. When I get up in the morning, I don't use shaving lotion, I use the Queen Helene hair moisturizer. rub it on the area's that are to be shaved and I use a triple blade sharp razor. After I finish shaving I use the Queen Helene facial scrub. I like it better than the St Ives Apricot Scrub, then I put on an astringent. Watch out it burns for just a minute. This routine has helped my throat considerably with the redness and bumps. My face always looks a little red afterwards, but once I put my makeup on the redness is gone. It doesn't completely get rid of the bumps but my throat looks a whole lot better and it doesn't look like my face is eat up with those gross swelled up razor bumps. Good Luck!!

Wink shea butter

I use shea butter on bikini area after shaving and it prevents me from getting a rash. However, don't use shea butter lotion..use the firm shea butter.

During or right after a nice hot shower I use a moiturizing shower cleanser, like Dove or Caress, with Sensor excel razors. Afterwards I dab a bit of facial moistrizer on. The little irritation that does occur is easily hidden with makeup.

I did find that guys razors (I use mach 3 too) help a lot - they seem to be sharper in general. That and shaving cream designed for sensative skin seems to help - I think it's the gillete for women formula that I usually use. I still get some rashes, but not as badly. If you usually don't get rashes, it may be that your skin is over sensative for some reason, and taking a few days off to let it heal if you can may help - I usually don't shave my legs in the winter to avoid rashes, and in the summer occasionally just deal with having hairy legs for a few days to let the shins heal before going back to shaving, and it helps reduce the rash for a while. Good luck!

Default works for me

I use BUMP STOP

Its for black men's beards. You can find it where you find the 'ethnic' stuff at Walmart or Zellars...use it anywhere, it works really well

Angry My life is governed by hair!!

I shave every other day if I can help it, but deuring the course of my schooling I must shave everyday and even then I am wondering if anybody can see my 5 O'clock or bumps. It is even worse for me because I am In a medical lab most of my day and the bright florescent (spelling?) lights seem to highlight the after effects of shaving. I use a tripple blade razor and baby oil to shave, then apply a moisterizer and loads of make-up. I use MAC foundation and powder. It is hella expensive but it is made for the movie stars and it reflects light very well to hide inperfections. I need to save money for laser because the one thing that is depressing me more than anything in my life is the hair. I use an electric razor for the rest of my body. Romantic, physical encounters with my bf are hard to bare, for fear he will find out "The secret" which I am sure he suspects but never says anything. God bless him if that's the case.

Talking Refreshing Elimination

I got an electric razor for xmas! Tonight I decided to use the electric razor for the first time so I started with my bottom, a place which is very sensitive and I never shave or wax. Before starting I wondered if I should leave it as is for fear my bf will notice the fuzzy butt is now smooth and question me as to why? LOL But I thought what the heck, maybe this will open the door to telling him about the rest of my unwanted hair. So I started and within 5 minutes my bottom was smooth and hair free for the first time in years!! I am so excited, I think I will continue with my abdomen, legs, arms, and who knows what else. I am not so sure I would get the same close shave with this electric razor on my face but I will try. Anybody else using electric razors on the face? How is it working for you? Does it get you a close shave?

Post Biotherm

There is a Company called Biotherm that makes hypoallergenic facial cleanser, exfolliants, scrubs, toner...etc. They are a bit expensive but not that bad. You can find biotherm at most major department stores i.e. Macy's. I use Biotherms because after I shave my face is already red and irritated, but I want to use a toner and pore reducer as well as a mattifier lotion. All of these pruducts should contain alcohol but Biotherm has no alcohol in it, so the stoner goes on with no pain.
