For the last few days, I've been having shooting pains in my lower abdomen, under my rib cage, and also "Down There" (As if someone were putting a needle through my clitoris!:o ). It's getting to the point where I've started taking painkillers for it.
Anyone have any ideas what could be causing them?

Dear Celtic Girl,
I've felt the shooting pains down low before and thought it was a urinary tract infection. I'm not sure about the abdominal ones, but I think you should go to the doctor. For urinary tract infections, I usually cure myself by drinking huge quantities of cranberry juice.
Good luck!

Sounds like a UTI.... I would go to the doctor. You can get shooting pains down your sides and through your abdomen... it all really depends on how far it has progressed. Sometimes you dont realize you have one until it gets really bad. Keep up posted on what the doctor says.
UTI? I would never have guessed that. It seems to be somewhat better today, but if it persists over the Easter break, I'll go to the doc's Tuesday mornin' - Promise

I hope everything is ok. I have never had a UTI but I get frequent kidney and bladder infections. The best thing to cure them I've found isn't a rx from the doctor or cranberry juice, but beer. I don't like the stuff, I think it tastes nasty. But I drink one beer and it usually knocks it right out. If you do go to the doctor, please keep us posted on how you are doing.

I have had those for YEARS. When I got married I talked to my mother-in-law about it and she said that she had similar pains, and that she would drink a glass of wine and it would help.
So for years I've kept wine on hand. Cheap stuff but works great 1 glass and I'm better in a few.
