Ok, this is a favourite subject of mine!! Well who'da guessed that huh?
I thought what we could do, just for discussion sake, is have a thread where we posted all the funky and nice things we bought lately that we love. After all, why buy something if you don't love it right?
Plus it also means we can share our favourite shops, let each other know of bargains, talk about eBay purchases and discuss clothes and accessories and decorating and anything else that comes up!
So what do you reckon girls? Who's bought something lately that they want to share with us?
I've been really naughty and shopped quite a bit lately. Today I hit 1626 and raided their $13.95 bargain rack. I got a pink kaftan style top with lace and sequin trim, and a pretty striped shirt in a sort of grandpa style in corals and peaches. But my excuse is that I've dropped 4 and a bit dress sizes in 7 months, so I desperately need new clothes!
I also got a pair of chocolate brown exercise shorts (the cargoes I was wearing fall off and aren't very practical) from Best & Less today.
Oh, and if you're looking for a great eBay seller - stardares is brilliant! I bought a cami top off her and it's so lovely. She makes them herself, and they're finished beautifully. Plus they're SHAPED properly to fit a plus-sized body. I've emailed her and asked her if she has a catalogue and prices of stuff she can make anytime.
YAY!!! One of my FAVOURITE subjects !!!!!
I love shopping.......but I'm very bad at making decisions (which Deb can attest to...she's seen my indecisiveness in action LOL).
I have been shopping A LOT lately!! I bought a new bedspread and some accessories for our bedroom which I am really happy with. Got them from Adairs at Carindale.
As for clothing....I'm not great with bargains....I buy most of my clothes from Myer. I have also purchased a couple of things from that plus size boutiquey type shop at Carindale. Some of their stuff is expensive but some is reasonable. I bought a couple of great fitting t-shirts from there a couple of weeks ago.
I have just been to the Gold Coast for a 'girls weekend' with a friend (which was GREATFUN!). We went to Pac Fair and I got 2 skirts while I was there. I'm not usually a skirt wearer...I like them, just don't wear them. Anyway, I've decided it's time to change my ways.
GOOD ON YOU KATH!!!! How exciting to have to shope for smaller clothes!!! That's a great reason to have to get out 'the plastic'.
Ooh Amy, I love bedlinen. In fact the only thing I love more than bedlinen is shoes. But since I bought my gorgeous big bed and bedside tables about 16 months ago I've been turning my bedroom into a BOUDOIR!! I'm particularly fond of pink and white, especially florals. I am such a bed sooky, I come home every night and hug my bed! So you can imagine how much I love to buy gorgeous bedlinen for it. Plus since I tried high thread count sheets and stuff I am NEVER going back to the cheap stuff!
I'm planning to do a spot of shopping after lunch on Saturday. I don't get to go to Garden City as often as I would like, so I'm going to seize the day!
That is, if I don't shop up too big on eBay before then!
Kath
A lot of my funds have been spent on the new little person in my life But I have managed to pick up a couple of things for myself recently - I hope I am not kidding myself, but I just bought some stuff from witchery that I am REALLY hoping will fit me soon after bub arrives. 3 x singlets with buttons that I thought would be good for BFing - 1 green, 1 black, 1 white. A really really cute green patterned skirt. And a black gypsy skirt that I am loving as it as a stretch waist and fits me now!!
I love the shoes at witchery - they seem to be slightly more expensive than elsewhere but they are always so comfortable and have just what I need. A girl at work has these really cool wedges that she got at witchery for $70 - I haven't seen them in store but am seriously thinking that I need a pair!
I also love bed linen - but I am so in love with the stuff that I have at the moment that I couldn't bare to replace it EVER. The doona cover is gorgeous green with embroidered pink flowers... it is country road and was a wedding present.
I love new make up shopping too - when I can afford it. But I am always so crap at putting it on As I have been trying to save $$ I have been buying natio and bloom and am pretty happy.
One more pay day until bub arrives so I guess I will just have an extra long christmas wish list!
BTW - Kath I cannot tell you how bloody jealous I am that your clothes are too big. I have never had that problem. Ever. Good on you!!

Brooke - this is the first time in my life that I've got SMALLER!! I'm 33 in three weeks and previously I just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger. So I am DEFINITELY deserving of finally getting smaller, that's for sure!
Sigh... wedges! I need to buy myself a new pair. I have a pair of fairly plain ones (black band across the toes, black ankle buckle up, with a cork sole) that I have had for YEARS but I so need to update them. Payless have these cute ones that are tan sandal on a rope sole wedge. I want them!!
One thing I badly need is bras. All of mine are too big in the body size (though the cup is fine - the boobs themselves haven't shrunk a millimetre!) and bras are so expensive. I bought a cute Avon set this week (I'm an Avon lady!) that is pale apricot with deeper apricot roses. Very pretty. Just in case I ever get to show them to McNeighbour!!
Brooke - aren't gypsy skirts gorgeous?? And flattering no matter what size or shape you are. I have a gorgeous black crushed satin one with crochet inserts and hems, and I wear it to death! I might wear it on Saturday, it's nice and cool.
I'm a make-up junkie too, but most of mine is Avon because i get it so cheap. But I do love to haunt Priceline too.
Shopping, yes, LOVE IT. I'm a bargin hunter. I generally don't buy something unless I get it on special! It just makes it seem all that more satisfying!
Haven't bought anything much for myself lately, I'm waiting till I can buy in a size or 2 down, but I'm always buying for the kids. I need too, they grow out of stuff so fast, (plus I'm always seeing cute stuff that "they" (ok so i meant "I") can't do without). Thats why I stick to the cheap stuff for them - Best'n'Less is the place I get most of their clothes. I think they are great value for babies/kids clothes. Seeing as there have been items that Alyssa has worn once and grown out of...
My other bargin shopper thing i do is I buy off clearence racks at the end of the season for next year. I mostly do that for the kids, but I did pick up a cosie for me one year for $3!!!
Just got the Kmart Cat, and there are shoes in there that I'm gonna get. I know the quality is CRAP, but they're so CUTE.
Oh, and I'm joining Avon too! Someone is coming to join me up on Monday, I'm excited! Do you find you make much money out of it Kath?

Tollee I don't make any money on Avon because I always buy more than my profit margin! But I didn't join it because I wanted to make money, I joined to get cheap stuff, which I do. I used to buy through a lady at work's Avon lady, but she decided to retire so all of us girls at work were without and Avon lady. So I decided to join up. If I didn't buy anything, I'd certainly make a profit. But as it is I get lots of stuff cheap, so I'm happy!
I shopped today after our Brissie Cyster's Lunch (hi girls!) Bought a lovely dress from Big W. A very "spring" style in a black, pink and yellow floral. Floaty skirt, flirty little sleeves - you know, that kind of thing. First dress I've bought in YEARS. Only cost 30 bucks too, so if it lasts only one season I don't care! It will look very cute with my pink high heels.
I love to shop for just about anything. My most favourite purchase i made recently were a pair of black high heel shoes, they were just lovely and they were also a bargain so DH could not complain.
My favourite thing to buy is Handbags. I just love bags, i can normaly find any excuse to buy one, that my weakness.
Otherwise it just shopping for clothes.
I just love to shop i just never have enough money to buy all I see.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking would happen with me too!!
Oh, and my other Shopping/money making experiment at the moment is being a Mystery Shopper! I've done one "assignment" so far, and I was paid $25, but I had to spend $10 of it in the store. But I didnt think that was too bad! And the item I bought, I can use as part of a pressie for my nephew's birthday!!! Its all good!

I joined up on the web - www.mysteryshopper.com.au
You need to spend about 2hours in front of the 'puter joining up, cause you do "training" (reading some doco and answering a quiz) and then within about a week or two they start sending you emails for any jobs that come up in the areas you have choosen. You have to be quick to accept a job, cause its sent to everyone who's registered for that area. Also you have to be able to attend the store at the Date and Time they want you to.
The mystery shopping sounds like fun.. I registered the other day.. well i set myself up with a user name.. when i saw i had to do a bit of online training i thought i'd save that for another day.. but it does sound fun.. You'll have to give updates Tollee on how you're going at it..
I love shopping.. Too much.. i'm going through a stage at the moment of comfort shopping.. Not the best type of shopping to do since I tend to spend money that i don't have.. But my latest purchase just for me was a decorator candle display that i bought from lumiscent.. I Loooove that shop.. always smells nice.. it was on special so i thought why not.. other than that i love buying books.. or clothes for my little girl..
