In a few hours I am going shopping for the weeks food. I was wondering what kind of suggestions you folks have for food? I'm really awful at shopping and usually just resort to TV dinners because I'm a horrible cook. It's hard to get my husband to eat healthy, so I'll keep him on TV dinners LOL. But I'd like to get healthier foods for myself. I was thinking, raw vegetables? Cut them up and stuff? I usually buy the frozen ones, but money is a bit tight, so if I cut them myself that saves money right? And what are peoples opinions on red meat? I love chicken and turkey but it gets boring. I really want to start eating healthier, but I know today when I'm in the grocery store, I'm going to feel completely lost! Map please!?

Just think, if the world didn't suck, then we'd all fall off!
I wouldnt suggest going all out and buying loads of veges just because they are healthy - you have to want to prepare and eat them too!
I'd start by taking one of your favourite tv dinners, finding an easy peasy recipe to make it yourself and making a shopping list from that. I'm a firm believer that no one is a horrible cook - it just takes a bit of practice!
(And if you get sick of practicing - there are always plenty of recipes that don't involve cooking that are still nutritious!)
Re: red meat. I wouldn't eat it everday, but for me its and important source of iron, we have it 1-3 times a week. Make sure its lean!

I would suggest to you - veggies, veggies and more veggies! I always try to find healthy convenience foods, too. Find what veggies you like (even if it's only one or two kinds) and eat lots of them.
Here's a basic shopping list for me and DH (mainly vegetarian):
Several pounds of fresh veggies, whatever's in season (right now, peppers, eggplant, cauliflower, kale and collards, onions, broccoli, squash). Any and all of these vegetables can be tossed on a sheet with a few glugs of olive oil, salt/pepper, and put in the oven for an hour or two until they are caramelized/roasted and delicious. This is by far my favorite way to eat veggies
Inevitably, some out of season things: tomatoes, avocados, cucumbers (lots of these), carrots, lettuce
A few items of "good carbs": wild rice, whole wheat bread, whole grain chips or crackers
Snacky things: strained greek yogurt, hummus, salsa,, low GI cliff bars, tortilla chips, almonds/nuts, jam to stir into yogurt, peanut butter, almond butter
Protein: chicken sausage, a few other items, refried beans, lentils, eggs
Usually I make one giant pot of stew or soup at the beginning and end of the week. Each pot is enough to last us through one dinner and one to two lunches. Other typical meals: veggie lasagna, veggie nachos with lots of beans, hummus and cheese with crackers, etc.
I try to keep 50% to 75% of the volume of my plate be occupied by veggies (and not just salad greens). Top it off with protein and good fat (lots of olive oil will keep you from getting hungry).
