I know that the FMLA will allow me to be out of work for 3 months for an adoption. But will my short term disability cover my pay? If I birth a child it will cover but I'm not sure if it will cover if you adopt? Anyone know??

HOPE- well i'll say MINE didn't--- they say- birth because you're recovering- they could care less that i had to care for my 13 month old that came from a different country- heartless if you ask me..... I thought short term was to care for a family member that was ill- well you would think that a transition would be - learning a new language- haven't to bond (attach with parents)

but whatever....

(little touchy subject with me- as you can tell )

Ange-I didn't realize you decided to start the adoption process. Congratulations and good luck. Unfortunatly the answer to your question is no. I just read the entire pamphlet on fmla today and the only thing you can get disability pay for is an actual pregnancy. Just one more way we are unfairly treated. I got some really great information in the mail today from the RESOLVE organization and that was in the packet. Keep me posted on your adoption.
