Default shortening inactive pills by a few days..

I'm on Yasmin and my period always come on the 2nd inactive pill, now the issue is my bleeding is so heavy I'm going thru Tampax super plus tampons under an hour and I have to wear an over night pad with that. I've been bleeding like this since Wednesday. Today I started a new pack in hopes of slowing this bleeding down. Is it ok to skip the inactive pills by a few days?, and basically what I'm hoping to do shorten my period to 5 days because I bleed so much I'm lightheaded when it comes. I guess instead of taking 7 inactive pill maybe taking only 4 or 5 and then start a new pack. what do ya think?

Does this happen every month? How long have you been taking Yasmin? This doesn't seem normal to me. BCP's usually give you shorter, lighter periods. I take Yasmin and my period usually starts on day 4 or 5 of the inactive pills and lasts about 3 days. You might want to talk to your dr. about the intensity of your periods.

I'm on Yasmin as well. I have a habit of 'skipping' periods though. Instead of being off the pill for a week, I'll just start a new pack. That's only if DBF is going to be home though. (he works on the road and seems to come home everytime I'm supposed to be off the pill, so it's puts a kink in the plans )

fairyladie, I'm in a similar boat. I've been on Yaz now for a month and there are 4 inactive pills, I believe. My period was SO bad I took an active pill a day early. The cramps, back pain, and heavy flow were enough to keep me home! How miserable. I am wondering the same thing as you about skipping inactive pills. I don't have a Dr. right now, just moved, so it'll be a while until I get a Doctor's recommendation. Good luck and I hope you get an answer!

SilverFinn ~ Since it was only your first month, your body is still adjusting to the pill. While I can't give you any advice on skipping inactive pills, I will tell you to give it a few more months until your body adjusts. Hopefully, it will get better!

I completely understand the misery of having long, heavy, painful periods. I used to before I started taking BCP's. I would have cramps so bad, I would have to go home from work. And to make it worse, my period had no cycle. It would just happen whenever it wanted, with no warning.
