Question Should I ask my gyno to refer me to an endo?

Would that be better? I like my gyno, but she's all busy with the pregnant gals, so she basically just prescribed me the met and told me to come back in 6 months. I wonder if an endo would be more thorough?

An Endo would be much more effective that that! A RE would be good too even if you aren't TTC, all depends. I go to an RE just because she knows more about PCOS than my last reg. Endo. GoodLuck!

i was first being treated by a gyno but i was so young my mom wanted me to see an endo too.. but there were none who specialized with children in town so i had to go an HR away.. but he took longer to get into see than my gyno.. so i've stuck with him.. hes a very nice man and knows alot about pcos and very compassionate.. when i would be so depressed and in hsi office crying about everything he would just hug me and pray with me.. so i don't care if i have to wait a little longer to see him

That sounds really good. My husband sees, an endo for a problem he has, and I wonder if maybe he'd see me.

You could ask your gyn for a referal to an Endo that she has referred others too.

I haven't felt the need to go to an Endo. I'm treated by both my GP and Gyn. Since they are in the same health group network, my notes, results, and other info are only a click away on a computer. Neither one has to rely on me remembering what the other said, suggested, prescribed, etc. Which is good, because my memory is shot right now.

i've been thinking about going to an Endo/RE too. right now i'm being treated by my ob/gyn. he seems pretty knowledgeable and all, but his office is always always packed and you wait 2+ hour to be seen. i'd probably go through the same thing going to a different doctor, but at least i wouldn't be sitting next to all these chicks who are half my age and pregnant. i'm really sensitive about that. there was a lady sitting near me who was very pregnant and had a young toddler. i started crying right there on the spot.

I would check with your insurance to see if you need a referral.....most don't require them anymore but don't make that known. You can see anyone you want that your insurance covers and no one has to tell you it is OK first a lot of the time now.

I just called one that was referred to me by a friend....you could even ask when you call if they specialize in PCOS b/c my first Endo didn't even think about it and never diagnosed me and I saw him for 1.5 years. My new endo specializes in PCOS and dx me in my first appointment. Not ever endo will do a good job with PCOS....I learned that the hard way.

JMHO....HTH!

Hi,
Currently I am going to a OB/GYN. And I am TTC, should I meet an endo in that case too.

I was just diagnosed and I'm meeting with a RE. My Gyno was happy to refer me to get the help I need.

Hello,
This is my first time here. I was diagnosed with PCOS a couple years ago. I was put on bc & metformine. My endo took me off the met. My question is....Who is more benificial? An endo or an obgyn? I would rather only see 1 dr. I go to an endo for a thyroid disease already. Who is more qualified in this area?
