Should I continue taking Provera if I am ovulating right now?
I posted this on the Metformin Forum and got no replies. I'm hoping I have better luck here.
Hello ladies,
I've been taking Metformin for a little over 2 weeks now. In one year I've only ovulated twice and once was on Clomid and once on my own. I just saw my reproductive specialist two days ago for a sono and blood work. He said he saw three lines in the sono that ususally indicate that I am about to ovulate. The follicle was also 7 cm (which is a lot larger than it was in previous months at this stage). Than I took my usual morning test with my fertility monitor and it said that I am ovulating today! But the doctor already started me on Provera yesterday to bring down my period and so that I can start clomid again. Could the one pill of Provera have made me ovulate?? If I keep taking the Provera and my husband and I try to make a baby tonight and tomorrow won't the harm my chances of conceiving. I'm so confused! Help!

I spoke to my doctor. He says that some women who don't ovulate often can sometimes get false results on OPK and the fertility monitor. He told me to continue with the Provera. I just don't feel right about this. The sono showed a good sized follicle and my temps. are also showing that I am. According to the doctor the bloodwork doesn't show it. But what if it didn't show to days ago but now it is? What do I do? Something inside me is telling me not to continue with the medication. So confused. Help!

Sorry I don't know either, but I would do what you want to do...meaning don't take the provera. Good luck and hopefully you'll get a BFP soon!

I am so glad I went with my gut. I didn't ovulate, but I got my period on CD 24 all on my own! I guess Metforming really does work! It's my second cycle that I get it at CD24. I thought it might be too short now, but doc says it's ok. Better then 40 - 60 days long. Doc wasn't happy I didn't take the Provera, but such as life. I never had a problem getting my AF. Sometimes it would take longer but it always came.
