Default Should I Get Another Test

Just after my miscarriage in July I had a blood test and it came back showing possible Hypothyroidism. I had a second test and I was back to being fine.

Should I just accept the results as they are and assume I am fine, or should I ask to be tested again? Is this something that can fluctuate like that?

Thanks for any info.

Sheri

Sorry about your m/c.

Yep, you should have another test. Sometimes women develop hypothyroidism while pregnant, which could have been the case with you...or, it could be Hashimoto's which has a tendency to go back and forth before it just stays 'bad'. Then again, it could have been a bad test---either one, the one showing hypo or the one showing normal.

Can you get copies of both lab results? You could be hypo (TSH over 3.04) but your doctor is using old ranges and won't treat until TSH is like 5.5 or something. Either way...try to get copies of your labs and if you can, post the levels here.

I vote for a second test. My initial test came back with 4.9 and the endo said it's just fine go work out a lot and watch what you eat. I lost 24 pounds after that and my recent test showed much better results. It is very fluctuating for me, so the endo orders the test every time I visit him (twice a year)
