Does anyone have any advice about who I should see - an endocrinologist or RE? I have 2 children (with the help of Clomid) and do not wish to have anymore at this time but want to find a doctor who will treat PCOS. My gyn's only treatment is OCP but I am also concerned about long-term effects of PCOS.
Regular endocrinologist! I find REs aren't too interested in helping if you're not trying to get pregnant, but I have had some great endos during times when I was not TTC but still wanted to treat PCOS.

Thanks RunnerDuck. I wasn't sure how informed endocrinologist would be about PCOS, my gyn doesn't seem to think it's a big deal. She was very hesitant to try Met when Clomid didn't work initially when I was TTC #2.
I had the opposite experience. My RE is the first dr. I've ever seen that is not concerned with my ability to get PG. He told me that we would treat the PCOS, and worry about my fertility when I was ready to have kids. I think it depends on the individual dr., and their personal knowledge of this condition.
I am seeing an RE even though I am not trying to get pg but she seems very concerned about my PCOS and has been very good so far. I went to her because she is at an actual Androgen disorders center, not just a fertility clinic. So, she seems to have a lot of knowledge about PCOS. I think its best to first research which doctors in your area have a strong background in PCOS. If you find a regular endo that is has a lot of experience with PCOS, you might want to try him/her first. Otherwise, you might try an RE. You should be able to tell right away if he or she is mainly focused on pregnancy or if they want to treat your PCOS in general.
