Do you think it's silly for me to think twice about going to an upcoming adoption agency picnic cause I'm pregnant and our adoption plans are on hold? We got an invitation for their picnic to be held in November (two weeks before my EDD), so I may not be able to go then anyway, but would like to talk to other parent's about their adoption experiences in person. Any thoughts?

If adoption is in your heart, and it is something you are passionate about learning more about other's experiences, I say you should go!

If you want to go--I say GO! I think it's important since you obviously want to go to do so. And in a more indirect way, I think it shows that adoption isn't a "second choice". It's simply another way to bring the children God meant for you to have into your family.
I am sure there may be some people there who will think its a bit odd, but hold up your chin and DO IT if it feels right...
I agree with if Adoption is in your heart its there forever !
Prego or not !

Thanks all! I think in the back of my mind I was thinking what if the adoptive parents aren't going to be nice to me cause I'm pregnant - which I know realistically is silly. DH and I are still open to adoption. We are going to re-evaluate how we want to proceed about 6 months after our baby's born. We have until next August 2004 to proceed without having to get recertified/approved by State and INS. I'm anxious to go to the Picnic and meet some of the other parents who have recently adopted from Panama or are in the process.

I'm so glad you are going to go!! I don't think you'd make people uncomfortable because you are pregnant. Since we do a lot of peer adoptive parent counseling, we've learned that there are a lot of people who adopt for reasons other than infertility.
