I to HAD elevated BP with weightloss I was able to drop the bp meds. Now everyonce in awhile my BP will get high as I am kinda wired to be wired if you know what I mean. So I have started taking garlic not only does it fight infections it lowers cholesterol and BP. It has made me feel so much better. I just went to Wally World and bought their brand for 6 bucks for 250.

I was around 260-270 when I conceived my daughter. I had a great pregnancy - no GD, no HBP. They thought she would be around 8lbs, but she was 6 lbs 11oz.

I am in a similar boat. The idea of getting pregnant was the push I needed to get eating better. I cut out soda, reduced my eating of subs to sandwiches, cut out a good amount of sugar, increased water intake, and changed from sugar sweetener to stevia.
Stevia is a natural plant that has a sweet powdery bi product. It has fiber for regularity, no glycemic index and no carbs.
Since May I have lost about 20 pounds. It's not great but it's something.
Sometimes getting pregnant helps people get healthy and eat better. My mother in law lost 35 pounds during her second pregnancy and she also is a PCOSyster.
I hope it works I know it isn't nearly that easy all the time. I wish you the best...
I am about where you are - 230/5'4". My OBGYN told me to try try try immediately, because she is afraid the longer I wait, the more likely that the Endo will grow back (I just had a lap & 6 mos of Lupron - YUCK). My Endocrinologist just put me on Metformin and wanted me to wait about 6 mos to see if I lost weight. However, she told me that if I wanted to go ahead and get pregnant, it'd be fine, they'd just want to monitor me v. closely for GD.
OF COURSE, this is assuming I can get pregnant. Which is not happening so easily. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I asked my OBGYN about my weight and she said it may make it harder to conceive, but that she has patients that actually end up losing weight when they have the baby, and then losing weight when they breastfeed... so she said if I can get pregnant, then everything will work itself out. I'm going with her positive attitude. If I can just get pregnant, to heck with weight or whatever!
Saw Endo. today and asked my question that I posted earlier. He told me that there are risks, of course, but that he will give me the green light for IVF. He is confident that I will continue my healthy eating, exercise, etc. (as long as I can). He did mention metformin to help loose weight between now and the time I do the egg retrieval. I might consider this, but have had very bad GI stuff with met.
I felt so much better today. He made me feel human and I actually saw myself as a mother and not as a beached whale. I just recently switched my Endo, so maybe this made a difference.
Just wanted to clarify that the risks he mentioned were the usual, but he was not worried about my current weight as being a factor to not do IVF. He didn't even call me obese. Hmmm....much different than the last endo.
hmmm 240 pounds is about 100 kgs? I think thats fine, I was almost 100 kgs at one stage and though was big was still able to do everything and my body seemed healthy. Also I have friends over 100kgs and they are happy and healthy too.
Just try to go for a nice walk every day and eat as healthy as you can and I think you should be fine to try :O) best of luck!!!
