Question should I be more concerned than my doctor seems to be?

I weigh nearly exactly 300lbs. My doctor doesn't seem too concerned about me ttc. He said it's not ideal weight for pregnancy and risks of pre-eclampsi and gestational diabetes are slightly increased. Apart from that, he doesn't seem worried. He told me to try and lose a bit of weight if I could. Should I be concerned? I've tried to lose weight but nothing seems to be happening. The scales haven't gone down, but my clothes are bigger and I've actually had comments that I look thinner around the face and that my clothes look big. Why aren't the scales reflecting my weight loss? What are the other risk factors with being pregnant at this weight? Is my doctor not worried enough?

I would say if your doctor isn't worried you shouldn't be. I know people larger than you that have gotten pregnant and are complication free and on the other hand I know people that are at their ideal weight that have loads of problems. Being overweight isnt ideal but if you are ready to TTC that wouldn't stop me. When TTC my son I specifically asked if me weight (230) would have an effect and my RE said it could but there is no guarantee that loosing weight would change anything. I did have GD and Pre-E that pregnancy and delivered at 38 weeks. This pregnancy I have been pretty much complication free even avoiding GD and am at a higher risk b/c Im carrying twins and about 20 pounds heavier than I was at this stage of pregnancy with my son so you never know. Best of luck to you.
