Default Should I rely on ovulation predictor kits?

Hi all..

So I have a question about OPK's. I finished a round of clomid 7 days ago. I've been charting my temp and haven't ovulated yet - although I know it's still early. My temp did drop yesterday then go up again today, though. I decided to try and ovulation test this morning - never done one before- and I got a positive result. However, having PCOS, I have the LH:FSH ratio that's off and I don't know whether I should rely on the test or if it is probably a false negative.
Anyone have experience with these tests in a similar situation? Have they worked for you?

Thanks girls!!!

OPK's have worked for me. Just realize that all test strips are not the same, and reading the lines can be difficult. You're looking for the double line, not for the lines to look exactly the same. The OPK's give you the 48 hour window of ovulation...so, your LH surge will be indicated by the OPK, but this LH surge begins up to 48 hours before ovulation.

Thanks for the advice, Daisy... I definitely had the double lines and the "test" line, I think it's called, was clearly darker than the control line. It was the Clearblue tests. I hope it's right!!!

Clearblue is what I always used before doing trigger shot this past cycle, and the second month I used it, I got my bfp. My RE's office recommends the Clearblue OPKs because they hear fewer complaints about that brand. Have fun making that baby!

I agree with daisy. They worked for me but I also did temping along with them just as a back and my 2nd clomid cycle worked as you can tell. The line has to be the same color or as dark as the test line. Post a picture up and we can help you more. I hope that helps a little. Good luck and loads and loads of baby dust to you

Thanks so much!! I tried to upload a picture but it keeps saying upload failed... I think the image is too big and I don't know how to fix that! Oh well I did it a few hours ago so it's probably too late to be valid anyway.

I appreciate your comments and help

Hey...not sure if this helps or not, but I am someone who always got positives on OPKs, no matter when I tested. However, when the clomid actually worked correctly (100mg), I only got positives when I surged. So, if you are on the right dose of clomid, your opk should be accurate (at least according to my Re).

Hi,
When I use OPK I get a lot of faint lines in the test window. The line gets progressively darker as the days go by. Is this common???
Thanks!

Hey... ok I tested again this morning and got another positive. I am starting to wonder if I will always get positives and that's just me? I am trying to upload a pic to get some opinions to make sure I am reading it correctly. I don't have a lot of cervical mucus or anything so it's making me feel skeptical.. and my temps haven't spiked at all. They are up a bit from a few days ago. I can't figure out how to attach my chart here though.. haha sorry I am somewhat computer illiterate!!

Thanks again

Personally, I'm sick to death of OPKs but glad others like them!!!!
