Question should i stop taking them?

i've been taking birth control pills since i was diagnosed with PCOS 9 years ago. i'm considering going off them for a while, but i wonder what will happen to my body? will it be easier to lose weight? will i have more hair?

does anyone have experience with going off the pill?

Default went off last spring

i, too, took the pill for nearly 10 years. i went off the pill once after being on it for a few years. i got af about five times (and those cycles were pretty wacky)...and then she disappeared again. i took some provera and went back on the pill.

last spring, in an effort to prepare for ttc, and to get healthy, in general, i went off the pill again. the first month off, my cycle was 30 days...after that they started lengthening to about 45-50 days with O around day 30 (I started temping to figure out what was going on). After about six months I started taking Vitex (an herb) and my cycles have since regulated to about 30 days with O around day 15!!! This is very exciting for me...especially since we're going to start ttc this spring.

as for other symptoms, this is what has happened since last spring:

hair - hair growth definitely sped up and popped up where it wasn't before...i have upper lip, sideburns, stomach, chest, and let hair that all thickened. this could be a bummer, but it's not so bad, plus i've just rediscovered the joys of waxing.

pms - when i was younger and the first time i went off bcp, this was bad. the first few months off bcp it was excrutiatinly painful, but that has subsided. also, i tend not to retain as much water as when i was on bcp.

bbs - my breast used to be sore for most of my cycle...too sore to touch or moves at times, now they rarely get sore.

weight - i'm a thin cyster who's weight is generally within 10 lbs...and this has stayed the same. over the past couple years i've started eating better (choosing better carbs, refraining from eating sugar on a regular basis, eating more protein, etc.), and i think this has made a difference.

in general, i love being off bcp. i feel so much more in tune with my body. why is it that you're thinking of going off bcp?
