Default Should I take Met with food, & at what times?

My cycle is not regular at all after 8 months on Met so I am starting to wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

Can anyone tell me if Met should be taken with food? My pharmacist says yes but my RE says it doesn't need to be. I often take it on an empty stomach right before bed or right when I wake up.

If the only reason food is recommended is to decr the chances of stomach upset then that's OK b/c I don't have that problem. But if it's better absorbed with food then... I better make some changes.

Also, I take 1500 mg/day (500 mg x 3) so I take one at 8 am, 4 pm & 11 pm. Is this OK? Or should I be taking 2 together later on in the day (I think I read that someone on here does that?)
Thanks for any & all advice!

Met is supposedly absorbed better without food, but many of us have to take it with food to stay out of the bathroom. If you can take it without food, go for it. Otherwise don't fret over taking it with a meal or snack.

The spacing of your pills looks fine to me.

I was on met for 13-15 months before I started seeing a real difference in my periods in temrs of regularity. Hang in there.

I am on 2000 mg a day. I take two with breakfast and 2 with dinner. You are very lucky that you do not get sick. I still probably get sick a couple times a week. I have to watch what I eat. I think that how you are taking them is fine.
