Exclamation Should I ttc or lose weight? Help!

Hi

I have been ttc #2 for about a year and a half now. But the problem is with my thyroid I am mainly hypo with a touch of hyper at times. Well in the meantime I have gained weight, so I decided maybe I should try to lose weight around 30 lbs. Does anyone know if you can lose weight with Adipex, my sister tried it and she lost a ton of weight but since I have a thyroid problem I wonder what your thoughts are and since I may use a weight loss drug should I not try to conceive for a few months?

Also I have thought about these weight loss drugs, Meridia and Xenical, I need help controlling my appetite and I cannot go it alone. Along with exercise I know I could do it. I have done it before.

I want to lose weight and get pregnant, I am so confused if I can do one thing then maybe the other will fall into place, I have been so consumed about conceiving that my weight has taken over.

Take care,

Amy

Xenical did not work at all for my mother in law. She tried it for about 9 months and only lost a total of 3 lbs, which is a daily fluctuation and probably means she lost absolutely nothing. It gave her yucky side effects too. She finally lost by being strict on the atkins diet.

Are you on glucophage? I've found glucophage to be an excellent appetite control mechanism. It worked for me and I didn't even know I needed appetite control.

Wink

Hi Shenacat,

I actually do not have PCOS, even though this cycle I do have a cyst and I am on BCP's this month. I do though have a thyroid problem and I do not find much support out there for thyroid so when I came here I saw this and was pleasantly suprised!

I would like to know what has helped people lose weight or get pregnant with thyroid problems, but since I am feeling down about myself right now I want to lose weight.

Thanks for replying,

Amy
