Question First Itchy, then swollen hands?

    Has anybody else experienced this?

First my hands (normally both of them, but today only the left one) start to itch and turn red. Then they hurt and start to swell. The pain goes away after 10 minutes or so, but the swelling lasts up to 2 hours. It's really weird!

I used to think it only happend when I went somewhere like Lowe's or Home Depot and blamed it on the chemicals in the lumber or something. Then it happened two weeks ago when I was at the mall in the shoe store. Today it happened in my left hand only when I was feeding my daughter.

I haven't started using any new products, so I don't think I got anything on my hand. If it were something I ate, it seems like it wouldn't zero in on just one hand.

    Any ideas? I'm completely baffled.

Hey it's my first post ever!
I also experience numbness, swelling, and discoloration in my hands and notice it most often when I am fatigued but have been active most of the day (like long shopping trips at the mall!). You might want to ask your doctor about Raynaud's Disease. Here's a link with some additional info: http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/DS/00433.html

I have this problem too. I ususallly get it when I'm in the heat ad walking around. Like today, it happened again.
It just scared me because my hands swell and stiffen.

I get the same thing. I've never really thought too much of it until I read two posts in a row this evening on this subject. Now I am curious... I'm going to start paying attention to when this is happening to me. Hmmm... interesting.

I get this too. It only has happened to me while shopping. DH and I both think it is an allergic reaction to some type of plastic, couldn't tell you exactly what. But sometimes I get it after handling DVD's or other products and some plastic shopping bags. My hands get itchy, red, hot, and swell. Washing my hands seems to help and so does anything that is cold. Wish I knew what it was or how to prevent it!
