Default 6 weeks - twins - one heartbeat??

Hi - I had my 1st ultrasound on Sat., to my surprise there were triplets but sadly one didn't make it. One had a strong heartbeat and the other didn't have one yet but the dr. said that since they are different embryos that they develop not at the same time....so they think the heartbeat of baby b will show up next Sat. I'm measuring 6 weeks so I guess it's early anyways to see the heartbeat. Has anyone else had this or heard of this?? Thanks so much!!

Sorry to hear this. So let me get this right. There was 3 sacs. One with a HB, one that didnt make it, and one that looked good for a hb next week?

6 weeks is early for a HB and if the twin Baby b implanted late it would be even less likely for a hb now.

I didn't have my first u/s until 7w1d and they saw 2 hb. I'm glad that I never went earlier than that so I didn't have your same fears. You are still early, and are lucky that you even saw one with a hb at 6w!! Lots of women don't until the 7w mark. There is still hope for baby b.

Thanks all!! Autumleaves - that's right, I feel bad for baby C but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I am SO happy about baby A but I just hope baby B is ok too, I go back Sat. so I'll see what happens I guess. Thanks again!!

I think nearly all pregnancies should show a heartbeat sometime after 7 weeks. I had an u/s early with my first pg (5 weeks something) and no heartbeat, but a week later, there it was. This pregnancy, I had an early u/s and saw the hb at 6w4d. The crown rump length was 7mm -- so imagine how tiny that heart is, and they can still detect it? At that stage a few days makes a world of difference in detecting the heartbeat. It also depends on the sensitivity of the equipment and the position of your uterus. Good luck!

Julie-Let us know how the scan goes on sat. I hope all is well but I feel like it will be. Like Kiko said a few days is very important at that stage and I feel like baby b is just a late implanter.
