    Default female gender ultrasound question

I had my 20 week u/s today. Although the baby totally wouldn't cooperate at first, the tech finally saw the "white lines" to say it was a girl. However you can only see 2 white lines, not 3. The tech said her legs were closed pretty tight.

I am really wanting a girl, so I am afraid to get my hopes up. I have to have another u/s in 8 weeks because I also have placenta previa, so hopefully they can see more then.

    What do you guys think??

Mine had it's legs crossed pretty close together too. They said it was a girl and didn't see boy parts for what little glimpses it gave off too. I mean worst case scenario you can exchange the stuff. I figured I'm just going to go with it.

I would love to know how you mean the three lines vs two lines? I had a scan at 13 weeks and saw three lines, which made a triangle in the area on my little bub. I presumed it was pelvic area. Please explain Thank you

I think we just tend to believe boy parts more...i still fear that this baby is a boy...and it wont be so easy as returning stuff...look at the nursery sticky and you will see we painted it pretty girly colors.
Last scan at 30 weeks she showed all her stuff...and it was three lines...but i still ask every single time to make sure!

Sall - the three lines are for the vagina and the labia. It just looks like 3 white lines right in a row. These are supposed to be seen to confirm girl, not just the absence the boy "parts".

robyn, I had an ultrasound last week to check for a pain I was having. They also said mine was most likely a girl because she saw no boy parts. In one shot her legs were spread wide open. I was only 18 wks so she said it may be a little to soon. I go back on the 23 on Jan for my full 20 week ultrasound. I am hoping nothing changes by then cause we really wanted a girl.

Here is my DD's 19 week u/s picture. You can clearly see the 3 lines that were talked about before. Just wanted to share an example.

Just for comparison, here's my DS's 19 week u/s picture. You can DEFINITELY tell he's a boy. LOL

I was told 2 lines are the scrotum, and 3 lines are the labia majora with the clit in the middle. My daughter had the 3 lines very clearly at 19 weeks! Maybe just wait for the next u/s in 8 weeks?

It took us 2 u/s's to determine dd was a girl. The first one the presumed she was a girl but couldn't say for sure since her legs were closed. We went back again and then they could see better. So, I'd say wait for the next u/s just to be sure.

Hmmmm..... now this kinda has me concerned....we have neen told twice we are having a girl. She had her legs open and they kinda got a shot from behind her and the tech said, "Yup, she's a girl. With a shot this good, you'd definately see boy parts if they were there. See right there, those are girl parts." but there were only two lines that I could see. Is that because it's a shot at an angle from behind and not straight on? Or could she stil be a boy?!

    Here's the u/s pic....

We never had that problem, after refusing to cooperate all u/s as soon as gender became a question ds spread his legs for all to see lol.

That said, I still had horrible thoughts that they were wrong near to the birth, I think we all do though.

I am in the same situation. Had my scan at 20 weeks and doc said it looks like a like a girl just because they didn't see any boy parts. It was not a for sure thing.

I am waiting for my 3D/4D scan for confirmation. How early do you think I should schedule mines?

My baby isn't totally cooperating and I don't trust the U/S tech. She seems sort of dumb.
So for lack of parts they told me girl. I think DH is a girl maker so I believe the girl designation, but not because of what the Tech saw. We'll just have to wait and see. Delivery is the only confirmation for us.
All this was after 3 ultrasounds, one being the tech "forgot to check" then the baby moved out of view. Nice. I wanted to punch her in her face... LOL
