I thought it was just me! I get very thirsty on Met. But it's a good thing. It ensures that I drink all the water I'm supposed to, and more.

It's like cotton in the mouth, isn't it? I have a glass of water next to me right now.

yeah, good way to describe it!

i drank 5 water bottles yesterday, i could have drank more but i had to control myself since i was working then had school. I didnt want to keep getting up to go pee!

i dont have any other s/e besides feeling sleepy & feeling a lil light headed when i havent eaten in a while. I also notice i have no appetite...ive been eating just so i dont feel sick.

Hm...interesting that it is met giving you this side effect. I am also taking another med for a study which apparently has the dry mouth side effect (confirmed by the study techies) and I wonder if the common link is those of us in the study taking met... At any rate, I could certainly do without that side effect myself.

Just be aware of any other symptoms. Extreme thirst can be a symptom of lactic acidosis. But I too was much more thirsty when I first started the Met, though I hazard to say that maybe it just made me NORMAL as far as thirst goes, bc I never ever used to drink water before, and I drank like, two cans of coke a day, and that was it, while friends and my husband drink four or five glasses of ice water a day, at least. My friend in high school used to call me "camel" bc I was never thirsty.

I'm thirsty, too. I can't figure out if it's the met or the synthroid.

I had the same problem when I went from 500mg to 1000mg of met - I went back to the doctor and she said the dose was probably too high for me and 500mg should be sufficient.
I started taking 1000mg on Friday and by Tuesday I was so so thirsty all the time, my mouth was dry and I couldn't get enough water and I felt terrible.
Now that I have gone back to 500mg I feel fantastic.

Wow me too! I'm also soooo thirsty. I'm going to see my doctor today and ask him about it.
