I had RNY Gastric Bypass in December 2003. I am up and down and still struggle with PCOS and staying below 200 pounds. But considering it's been nearly 7 years and I was once 320...I consider it pretty damn good to not have come within 100 lbs. of my max weight. I feel strongly that this surgery saved my life. PCOS makes it a challenge, and at this point, I'm back to being able to eat normal quantities, but the surgery was a HUGE boost. I am not even CLOSE to perfect with eating, but I did cut out soda and sugary coffee shop drinks and began to exercise again. I am newly sensitive to sugar and milk (cheese and small amounts of yogurt are ok), so that helps. I have a page on obesityhelp.com, I'll post a link later.

Well, PCOS is reeking havoc on my body yet again. I'm back in the gain massive weight stage. I've gained 50lbs FAST and my stomach is carrying practically all the weight. My face is breaking out, I have black hairs on my chin, and just last week my mother plucked a long black hair off by back. I go to the gym regularly and I don't eat bad foods. I feel like I have absolutely no control over my body. I feel that surgery is my only option right now. And seeing as though I don't qualify for a weight loss study my doctor wanted to put me on, surgery is all I have left. How long does it take to get the ball rolling for surgery? I heard it can take up to a year of prep before you can actually have it.
