    Default Expired Metformin...Safe to take?

My doctor prescribed Metformin for me a year ago. I forgot that I had it and asked him to write me a new prescription since it expired in 2007. He told me that it was safe to take, but if I wanted to pay for a new prescription, he would write me another one, but the one I had filled last year was okay.

    Any thoughts about this?

I don't want to get sick, but if it's okay, I'm willing to take it.

I would only take it until he wrote the new script. Since it expired in 2007, I think you should get the new script as soon as you can. JMO.
