Default Myo-inositol (not d-chiro) for pcos

I wanted to start a thread on myo-inositol because it has studies on it with PCOS. I recently started it, I think I have a bad case of either insulin resistence or some kind of metabolic syndrome, because I have had gestational diabetes three times, along with being diagnosed with pcos almost 2 years ago. I started Myo-inositol with Choline a little over a week ago. It really is cutting my sugar cravings to almost nothing. WOW

But myo-inositol is not so expensive I can get it for around 12-15 $ a month and around $33 a month at the most. The studies on PCOS and myo inositol , one study with 2 grams (of inositol and folic acid combined) taken daily and one study with 4 grams myo-inositol taken daily. The results of the studies were so good, why dont mores cysters try this instead of D-chiro?

What is the best dose for Myo-Inositol?
The studies seem to be based on 2,000 mg or 4,000 mg. While there was one study on 200 mg, I recomend the 2 or 4,ooo mg dose for extra insurance that you will get all the benefits of Myo-I. Starting with 1,000 mg and gradually working your way up to the dose you choose is a good way to do it.

1500 mg Inositol/ 1500 mg Choline. I plan to up it to 2 grams of Myoinositol per day once I get done with this brand. I would like to try Cenitol from luckyvitamin.com, 1/2 of a serving provides 2 grams of myo inositol, so 1 bottle would last 2 months.

I completely agree that this is a realistic (and EFFECTIVE!) alternative to the expensive (and not widely available) DCI.

I've been taking approximately the same dosage as the OP since December and the results have been extraordinary.

    - I've lost weight - 47lbs so far, and still losing
    - I've started having regular and progressively shorter cycles after almost 2 years of about 1 AF a year.
    - My blood pressure has started going down. I'm still on medication, but my BP is coming in MUCH lower than it ever has been.
    - The SJW that I take for my depression is MUCH more effective than it was previously. Before starting the Inositol/Choline combination, I was on both SJW and 5HTP, which was working but I'd still have bad mood swings frequently.

Overall, I really feel like the Inositol helped pave the way for the success I'm having now. I've gone from being 350+lbs, with no energy and unable to get up off the couch to just about 300lbs, working out 1 to 2hrs a day and doing jogging intervals.

Yes, I've been incorporating strength training since the start. Lower intensity at the beginning, and more focused and intense now.

herbsgirl: Thank you for the heads up! I've been taking DCI for 2 mos and it is WAY too expensive, I've been wondering how I was going to afford more. But with this info...doors may be opening. I think I'll give it a try when I run out of DCI. Thank you again.

herbsgirl, thanks so much for all the research you do and the info on insitol! You always have such great info. I'm glad that this is just as effective as DCI if not more. DCI is too pricey for me.

This did nothing for me but made me gain weight! When I stopped it the weight fell off within a week. I can't understand how other people seem to have such great experiences with it!

MarianneUnfaithful- Inositol is proven in many studies to help PCOS, but there is always exceptions to the rule! What works for one girl may Not work for another. Everyone's body is different and everyone responds different. I think there are many, though that have had sucess with Inositol on this board and others.
