It is a cute outfit! I got a couple of those, I thought they were neat!

You're right, your baby boy has perfect lips Its crazy how ultrasounds can turn out.

I talked to my ultrasound tech today about my pics and she said that when you look at the baby head on she doesn't look weird to her at all. Her lips look normal. But then she did mention from the only side profile shot we got that it does look weird...but she said she could have been sucking on her lower lip too. Do you guys think the pictures look weird to you? Does it look like she is sucking her lower lip to you guys too?

I had an ultrasound today at 32 weeks and my DH's first comment was: Wow! That's quite a nose! :o)

The baby had an umbilical cord running across his mouth so couldn't really see the lips but who knows how huge these would have looked!

I then googled a few sites with ultrasound pictures and the baby once born and the ultrasound ALWAYS exaggerates the features.

Still... my motherly instinct thinks he is a perfect little boy! :o)

That looks like a perfect little baby in there to me. The ultrasound magnifies everything.

I coulnd't really see your pics to good. However, I was really worried about my son as his nose looked huge. I even questioned everyone at the dr office who would listen. He turned out just fine. I can't recall any babys I have ever seen having terrible looking lips, so I am sure they are fine. I drive myself crazy worrying about things, so its hard for me to tell you not to worry, your baby will be perfect, but I am sure she will be.

My last comment was actually intended for both of y'all. I think your ultrasound picture looks fine. It is difficult to see but I don't think your baby will have a big lip.

thank you ladies!!!! I appreciate your comments!! You all really make me feel better. I was actually telling my husband that I check this account so much because your guys truly help me!!! I have been looking at other babies pictures (ultrasound and after being born) and A LOT of them suck on their lower lip! It looks like their top lip protrudes because they are sucking in their lower lip. I am hoping that is the case with my baby...because that's what it looks like! I am so excited...next wednesday I get a 3d-4d ultrasound at an elective clinic and I will get a more clear view of her face from that hopefully. I just wish it was already that day! I am such a dork...I think I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder sometimes because once I start thinking about something I can't take my mind off of it! haha

p.s. Duffy and Danielle...your little ones are absolutely ADORABLE!!!!!

I think it is important to remember that it probably isn't that the upper lip is protruding, it is more likely that you are noticing a normal recession of the lower lip/chin. This is natures way of helping them nurse as infants, and is the reason babies look like they have prominent upper lips with recessed (sometimes called "weak") chins when they are born. As the baby gets a little older, this goes away.

Very excited (and a little anxious)! I can't believe how time has flown.

Yeah, if you look at a profile of a newborn, you will see that they typically have flat noses and recessed bottom lips/chins. This helps them move through the birth canal and helps them nurse as newborn (imagine doing either of those with a prominent nose or chin LOL). The only reason I know this is that I read up on it after my nephew was born (because I thought he looked funny LOL). He is now a perfectly proportioned toddler.

I bet you are anxious! I feel that way too...it all goes SO fast! I can't believe it. Doesn't it feel like yesterday that you found out you were pregnant? It does me! I just can't wait to see the baby and kiss her cheeks!

That really does make a lot of sense. That would make it quite difficult with strong noses and chins coming out...and also the nursing part makes sense too! Thanks for that insight...I truly appreciate it. I guess I just saw some of my friends ultrasound profile pics and their babies had perfect little lips and I then saw mine and saw one huge lip on top and no lip on bottom hardly! And then I started freaking myself out (as usual) that the only two profile pics we had was her looking like that...and it all went from there I am such a freak sometimes!

It really does make me feel better though...THANK YOU. I wanted a scientific/medical explanation and you gave me one! YAY

Thanks.. I really need to update my pics, he is not a baby anymore.. I have been so busy I don't get on here as much as I used to. Anyway, just wanted to say I feel your pain with the OCD. Mine only gets worse with pregnancy, which isn't good, since I am bad anyway. Have a great day and I can't wait to see your little one in a few weeks.
