Default Anyone know how long Mucinex is supposed to take to work??

So I've been taking it for 3 days now, and I've noticed no difference in CM, maybe actually less than normal. Does it take awhile to work? For some reason its in my head that it works within a day or two.
. I am getting massive heartburn and nausea after i choke down the darn pill... I'm beginning to think it's not really worth it and just sticking to PreSeed alone.

Maybe you aren't drinking enough water? You're supposed to stay REALLY hydrated when taking Mucinex.

I love taking Mucinex. I noticed a difference after my second pill. Try to drink more water... i drink a big glass with my morning pills,t hen i take the mucinex about an hour later with another big glass of water, and then I make myself drink a huge 40oz glass of water before dinner time. It takes me a couple of hours, but I get it down... I was getting heartburn at first, but then i read the directions to drink with a full glass of water, so now I make sure to drink alot and haven't had any problems since.

hmm, i don't think water is the problem.. lol, i'm a water addict. I drink a huuuge Poland Spring with my pills, and then 4-5 more throughout the day.... Maybe i will try switching to liquid.

It also depends on how much you take. I don't take Mucinex, but rather the Target brand of Guafenesin. I take 400mg 3 times a day and I noticed a difference in a day or two. I don't know why I waited so long to try it, as this was my 6th Clomid cycle. But it sure did make a difference. Now I'm in my 2ww...Also, I started taking it on CD 10 and took it until my temperature chart showed ovulation.

Jess, do you take it after you have something in your stomach? Taking it on an empty stomach could make you very sick. But, if it keeps making you sick, maybe you should try the Robutssin. It's supposed to work the same magic on your CM.

I do take it after breakfast and dinner. Not sure why it's making me feel so sick. It feels like its stuck in my chest and dissolving in there, causing a heartburn feeling, even though i'm taking a bunch of water with it. I think i'll just switch to the liquid and see where that gets me. I'm kinda sick of swallowing fist fulls of pills every day anyway. One less is improvement! haha

I was told to take 1200mg of it 2x per day when my dr recommended it. And I noticed a huge difference that day! it made my nose water and subsequently made me sneeze a lot more, but I couldn't take my benedryl as that would counter it! LOL I was miserable for 4 days, but it did what it was supposed to do. (Eventhough I did not get a BFP.)

I'm assuming you're taking Mucinex without a decongestant! Most people know that already...so I don't want you to think I think you don't know anything! LOL...but the ONLY main ingredient IS guaifenesin right?

Anyway, I took 400mgs of the Wal-Mart brand guaifenesin tablets three times per day. One with each meal. But I had to break them into 1/4s (Lap-Band.)

I also drink 64-120 oz of water daily.

Last time I did this, I had so much CM I practically had to wear a pad...lol...

Yea, its just the regular wal-mart one (not offended, dont worry :-P) Dont know why it's not working for me.. maybe the 800mg isn't enough? I'm going to take it now after i took my first full of other drugs an hour ago to make sure thats the one thats upsetting me. I also started taking Vitex at the same time so before i stop taking the mucinex, i want to make sure thats the one thats upsetting me
