    Default Pinching/Stabbing Pain in Uterus

I have a feeling this is a normal growing pain, but I just wanted to run it by your ladies.

All day today, getting progressively worse throughout the day, I've had these momentary little pinches/stabs in my uterus. I'm only 12w6d, so the pain is low, right above my pubic bone in the center. It's over as soon as it starts, just a quick jab. I did have a slightly more active day than usual, which could contribute I suppose.

I'm seeing my OB tomorrow so I'll ask her about it, but I'm curious to know your opinions/experiences, too.

    Thanks in advance!

I've had similar pains throughout my pregnancy (very sharp and stabbing, pinching, like you describe). Mine started out in the right side, but I do get them in the centre and the left as well. Definitely discuss with your doctor, but I'm sure they are just round ligament pains from your growing baby and uterus. You are entering your second trimester when these really get going so it's good you're reassuring yourself now

    Good luck and congrats!!!

I had the same thing around that stage. After 12 weeks, your uterus is moving up over your pubic bone. Probably normal RLP/growing pains. Never hurts to run it past your dr.

Sounds a lot like round ligament pains Mine started on one side and then migrated to the middle. Now they'll happen anywhere down in that area.

If they are round ligament pains - be careful if you get the urge to sneeze or cough. It won't damage anything, but man does it hurt.

Oh my God, you're so right Lexibelle! I had a nasty cold and I ended up having to hold my tummy every time I sneezed or coughed to stop it hurting!

So I'm back from the OB. I explained the pain to her, and her first question was if it was associated with moving or stretching (no). Then she asked how long the pain lasted (1 second, max). She said it's probably the baby moving. She said the baby's size in relation to the uterus means that when it moves or flips over, it shifts the entire uterus. That didn't sound right to me, but whatever. I trust that it's normal and it went away after I rested last night.

And oh yes, I have experienced the cough/sneeze RLP! YOWZA! I, too, have learned to hold my belly. I also hold my belly when I roll over in bed because I've had some pretty bad zings of pain from that, too.
