Default Brown Spotting 2 Wks Post Miscarriage?

    Hi Ladies,

I had a natural miscarriage at about 7 weeks about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I did not require a D&C. I bled for over a week, and feel fine now....physically anyway, still a little emotional of course. Anyway, yesterday I had a small amount of brown spotting. So far, nothing today. Is this normal after a miscarriage? Thanks in advance ladies!

When I had my m/c, I bled off and on for 3 months. Are they tracking your hcg levels to make sure they are going down?

At the time my levels had dropped to 111, from over 3,000...which they said was good. They didn't say I needed to come back, and I'm having no cramps, or fever, or any other signs of infection. Maybe I should go back????

did they do an ultrasound after your mc to make sure everything was out? With mine they did an ultrasound the day after my mc. They thought mine was complete except for a small little spot on the ultrasound. I was given a medication to make sure everything was completely out, then went in for weekly blood tests until my hcg was 0. Once I lost the last clot a week later my bleeding stopped and my levels went to 0. Four weeks later I began my first full cycle.

They did an ultrasound at my request, all he said was there were a few spots of blood, and he could see where the baby used to be....whatever that means. I'm forced to be seen on post, my husband is in the Army, and the level of care there is inconsistant at best. The doc I saw that day wasn't even an OBGYN, he was "filling in" because the OB clinic was short on doctors. I'm frustrated to put it mildly.

sorry to hear about your loss ... maybe i'm being a little optimistic here, but if you bled like a period then maybe you started a new cycle & maybe this is implantation spotting??? hope you get it figured out

I did bleed like a period. I can only hope I started a new cycle! I spoke with my nurse at the fertility clinic, this is different than the OB clinic on post, and she said I could treat the miscarriage like a period and start trying immediately.....so, maybe I shouldn't have, but I took some leftover Famara during the bleeding. I don't know if that was a good idea or not, but I figured what could it hurt ya know. Anyway, I only spotted yesterday. So far nothing today. It's so confusing.

I don't think it would have been a period yet. It takes 2-4 weeks once your hcg is at 0 before you will start another cycle. You said the doctor sait they could see where the baby was in the ultrasound? That sounds to me like there was still something left and that could be what the bleeding was from, your body getting rid of what was left.

When you say you bleed like a period are you meaning when you miscarried? If so that's normal and that is not the start of a new cycle.

My doctor told me that it usually takes about 6 weeks after the miscarriage before you will have a period (I was lucky and started early, four weeks later) your body has to take the time to reset its self and regulate your hormones

Yes, I was referring to the miscarriage. I haven't had a period yet. I highly doubt I ovulated already. I will probably call the doctor tomorrow....but I'm hoping since it was just one time of brown spotting it's not a big deal. Thank you for your response

You need to make sure you're monitored and that your HCG goes back down to zero. Even though you're having no signs of infection now it could show up later and cause more issues (sorry to be a downer) - it's important to keep getting those levels checked until you're in the clear (I had a natural m/c and had to have my levels monitored until they went back to normal). I did bleed off and on as well - 3 weeks after m/c, 2 week break, and then another 2 weeks before things seemed to "get back to normal" - whatever that means!

I'm so sorry for your loss.
