    Question Metformin... smells fishy sometimes

I noticed that sometimes my prescription of met has a rather fishy smell to it... yet other bottles smell sweeter and more pleasant. I know that my pharmacy switches between distributors and that is why one sometimes smells better than others. My question is this... does one work better than the other? Can you tell me if your met has a fishy or sweet smell to it, and did it help you regulate, lose weight, get pregnant, etc...???
    TIA!

My metformin definitely smells fishy. I take the regular version and I wonder if that has something to do with it too. I think that is hilarious as I thought it was just my nose :-)

My regular metformin was so fishy I couldn't take it. I asked my dr. to switch me to ER and she did and now it's not fishy. it got to the point where just the thought of having to swallow it would give me dry heaves.

my spironolactone smells like peppermint. So weird!

I've noticed the same thing here. It wasn't a big deal until I got pregnant--now I have to take a deep breath before I open the bottle and pop it into my mouth. Fishy or not, it's been my miracle drug!

I have to hold my breath when I open the bottle and if I get a whiff of it I gag like crazy.

My husband is a deer hunter.. so, i can tell you that "fishy" smell.. smells EXACTLY like deer urine. Hunters avidly put it on their shoes/clothes and it just reaks. I gag. Once I went on the ER though.... it didnt smell.. weird

Wantnbbs - Haha, I read your post and then had to google "metformin and deer urine"... you know, just to make sure it wasn't an ingredient! Doesn't seem to be. 8-)
