Default does anyone take prometrium after ovulation?

I asked my doctor about taking progesterone after ovulation and he prescribed prometrium (200mg, 2x at bedtime). He told me to start taking it at 4dpo. Does anyone have experience with prometrium? What was your dosage and when did you start taking it? Thank you!

I used 200mg/day morning and night prometrium vaginal suppositories from 3 days past ovulation until the end of the 2ww. When I ended up pregnant I used it until 11 1/2 weeks along.

Do you think it would matter if I started taking it tomorrow (5dpo) instead of tonight? I was sick yesterday, so my temps have been high, so I don't know if I fully trust my bbt temps. Won't the prometrium make my bbt temps higher than normal? Any thoughts?

I think between the temps and the positive OPK you got you should be ok to start either today or tomorrow. Sometimes it can make temps go up but not always. Are you taking it orally or vaginal suppositories?

I'm taking it orally. I've read about women starting prometrium after they get their bfp, so starting at 5dpo should be okay, right?

Of course- if you are taking it to help your progesterone you want to be on it within a week after ovulation.

I take prochieve suppositories, which is another form of progesterone. I have low progesterone that has caused m/c so my dr. has me on it cycle day 17-33, if not pregnant by cd 33, I stop taking it. You definitely want to take it after ovulation because progesterone strengthens your uterine lining and makes it more receptive to a fertilized egg.

Yep, I took it my first med cycle; and I'm going to be taking it again this cycle as well. I'm not sure what the dosage was, actually; but I took one at night as a vaginal suppository. I will warn you that it gave me every pregnancy symptom under the sun! So, be wary of sore boobs, nausea, headaches, etc.! But, overall, I think it's a great way to give yourself an edge during the 2ww. GL to you!
