Default What follicle size did you trigger at?

I just recieved the trigger shot today, and I'm concerned that maybe it was given to me too soon.
I've been on follistim, and today had my 2nd ultrasound to check out what was going on.
My right ovary has around 5 large follicles measuring around 16-18mm.
My RE and the nurse felt like those were good enough I guess and went ahead and gave me the trigger.
I know the trigger will help to grow them a little more, but I dunno.. just still feeling like those sizes (other than the 18) are just a tad too small?

Guess I'm looking for some reassurances that things will turn out well lol. Maybe some success stories from women who have had a similiar situation w/ follicles that size.

I had 4 follicles - 15, 16, 18, 20 and we got one sticky little bean out of there. The HCG trigger doesn't do much to beef up follicles but the time it takes from now until they release will help. Everyday they can grow 1-2mm so if you don't O until tonight or tomorrow that will give you another day or two of growth on all of them I think it sounds good!

    Thanks Katie.

Hoping I'll get a sticky little bean out of this I seem to have luck when I have more than one follicle. The 2 injection cycles that I produced more than one (3 the first time, 2 the next), I got BFPs, but they didn't stick. I do know that the follicles measured above 20mm those cycles, so that's why I'm a bit concerned this time. *shrugs* Maybe those were too big and these are just right. SIGH! This is gonna be a long TWW lol.

During my IUIs we triggered with follies between 18-24mm (every cycle is a little different). Did you do any blood work? Along with u/s, my RE also took blood samples before administering the trigger. Your hormone levels can indicate how many of those follicles are actually ready to release an egg. Every cycle, even though my u/s showed medium to large sized follicles, I was actually told to do an additional night of shots because my hormone levels indicated I wasn't ready to ovulate. Ask your Dr about blood work next time. Then you'll know the whole picture.

I hope this round works! Good luck!

Thursday morning I had 3-16mm and had been growing about 1mm a day. Sunday at 4:30am I triggered having taken more follistim Thursday and Friday. So in theory they were probably almost 19mm. Worked and got one.

Today I got trigger shot as well and I have three good follicles 20mm 19mm and 15mm and doctor told me they will grow a little more before they ovulate. It takes the trigger shot at least 12 hours to help follicles release the eggs. Good luck to u and me since we both got trigger today all the best and God willing we will be pregnant in 2 weeks .

I've been getting my E2 checked as well. The last one which was 2 days ago came back at 1071 and the follicles were measuring between 13-15mm. I have smaller follicles, and who knows what my left ovary is doing (it hides behind bowel and they can never find it).
I should be getting a call from them a little later with whatever today's results showed.

Just got a call back and my E2 today is 1887. Hopefully it indicates that there are multiple mature eggs waiting to be released.

Sounds good that they triggered already, maybe they were actually trying to avoid having way too many over 18mm, sounds like perfect timing to me. Finger crossed !!!!

Oh my RE doesn't seem to have any worries that I'll be another Octomom or anything like that.
He wasn't concerned at all w/ the number of follicles that I had.
    *shrugs*
Just have to hope that something sticks now

Thanks so much ladies for your input!

Lisa, I think that sounds great Your E2 is awesome (maybe a bit too high if anything), and your follicle sizes sound great!

My RE always triggered follicles at 16 to 18mm on injects, they're considered mature sooner than on oral meds.

    Good luck!

Mine was about 19x22 and I'm not sure what the other was. I was there the day before and one was about 17 and one was about 19 and they said they'd probably have me trigger that night, but they called later to say come back in the next day. Then that day is when they told me to trigger.

    Your E2 level is amazing!

    Goo luck to you.

I totally agree with Katie! I triggered with two matured follies at 18 and 21; and two more at around 12 and 13/14-ish. My Dr. and the ultrasound tech both said what Katie said that the follies will continue to grow up to 1-2 mm each day; so, if you trigger and O 36-40 hours later, you have time for them to get a bit fatter! GL to you!!!
