I was wondering if anyone knew if Tricare Prime would cover Tubular Breasts Correction? I know in general they don't cover cosmetic surgery. But since it's a medical condition brought on by PCOS, would it be different?

what is tubular breasts?
I would say no, especially since you're in Okinawa. They aren't big on specialists there. Lester Hospital isn't the most awesome place in the world either. I had wisdom tooth removal there and they practically kicked me out the minute I opened my eyes. I know that a lot of people would go to the Philippines to have plastic surgery because it was cheap. They just don't do a lot of things in Okinawa. I would say if you were active duty and not a dependent they might, might cover it and that is a big might.
Hmmm, are you saying some insurances DO cover correction???

I'm not sure, I know that it can be coded in a way that insurance will pay for office visits, lab work, and some meds. Since it is a medical condition, and deformity, not just a personal issue (but it is that, too!). I think I'd still have to pay for the actual implants.

Oh, and I definitely wouldn't have it done here in Okinawa. It's not that I don't trust the providers here, I just want to wait until I have kids and they get older. Probably in about 5-6 years.

You would have to start the process of convincing a doctor that it's medically necessary. Then going through the process of getting a referall. It will takes years. Then you must go to a Tricare medical facility to have it done. It's a very difficult process to start and let alone finish. Plus tricare will only play specific fees. You would have to pay for the surgeon fees, implants, etc. Basically Tricare will cover whatever is minimally necessary for them to do. While you're here in Okinawa, there is no reason to even start the process until you get back stateside. The turnaround here is so quick, you'd be seeing a different doctor about your referal every few months. It'll probably be more advantageous for you to save up your own money and pay for it to be privately done.
