Default Complete Placenta Previa @ 12wks

Hi ladies looking for some insight and stories from what you have experienced with complete placenta previa. I know sometimes it can "migrate" further in pregnancy. But from what I have been told with complete that sometimes doesn't happen. I am just looking for some inspiration/hope or whatever you would like to share. Thanks so much ladies!

I don't mean this to be rude at all but PLEASE:

PLEASE NO WORST CASE SCENARIOS UNLESS YOU HAVE PERSONALLY BEEN THROUGH IT OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO WENT THROUGH IT! Dr Google has enough worst case scenarios!

mine covered almost the whole cervix and I had some bleeding as well at 11 weeks from it. it has moved completely up to the front and top. I will pray it moves!!!! It usually does I hear although I didn't know there was a difference if it was completely covering it?

Thank you so much I *knock on wood* Haven't spotted from it...I pray like heck I don't :/ If it completely covers it after a certain point it puts you and baby at a higher risk. Some women even needing hospital bed rest for bleeding etc. I know that's worst case scenario. :/ Also if it doesn't move they will have to do a c-section.

    Hi CysterLeanne,

I have never posted before, but do lurk a lot. I feel that my experience may help you! With my second pregnancy I had the same diagnosis as you only I did not find out until late in my pregnancy. My doctor said that he did not want to worry me and said he knew about this since my 18 week ultra sound. He explained everything that would happen at the birth. I had already had a c-section and he said that I could not go into labor and he could get the baby out very quickly. He did explain that I may have to have a hysterectomy and possibly blood transfusion. He drew a diagram showing exactly where the placenta was. I said nothing! I went home very upset and then decided to check up on my diagnosis and found out like you that the placenta could migrate. I immediately called my doctor and asked him if this could happen, he said yes but not in my case. I asked for another ultra sound and he said yes. My next appointment he shook my hand and thanked me for asking for an ultra sound because the placenta had indeed migrated and he felt more at ease and said that it made his job easier.

Please do not worry, and ask for another ultra sound later in your pregnancy.

My daughter is now almost nine and I did have another healthy pregnancy and no problems with the placenta.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I know how much you have wanted this.

Same thing just happened to my bff, she is currently 26wks with her 1st baby. At her gender scan at 18wks they said it was also completely covered, & scheduled her another u/s for 4wks later. 22wk scan, everything was perfect! From what I've read this is very common and no need to worry until much later in the pregnancy. Good Luck!!

I have it with this pregnancy and not my other 2 children..

I am still complete previa at this point but they will keep watching it to make sure it moves (a majority of the time it does) I am a scheduled c section already but was told until later in pregnancy they wont worry much about it and will discuss what changes with surgery when they feel it wont move. I have my gender u/s in 2 weeks and that is when they will reevaluate again !

Leanne- they first saw it at my u/s at 7 weeks and said its too early to even call it a diagnosis b/c it moves.. but it was still there at 16 weeks so they said they will keep checking it since it still has plenty of time to move. YES i will keep you posted on my next u/s and the plan they make..

I was diagnosed with complete pp at 18 weeks. I had an ultrasound last week at 24 weeks and it has moved all the way off my cervix. It is still a low lying placenta but the specialist thinks it will continue to move up and hopefully I will not need a c section. I go back in a month for another ultrasound. Btw my previa was posterior.

hey, one more thing that might be helpful. I bled a little bit after I had an "O" and no BD. we didn't mess around again until it had moved. this may help if you don't want to see any spotting. from what I know when they found mine at 12 weeks they didn't even diagnose it either and said it was too early for that as it would probably move. so glad you are feeling better about it! kup!

Just curious, why did this even come up? I've always understood that placenta previa, to the extent it can even be called that so early on, is very common in the second trimester and generally resolves on its own.

FWIW, when I had my elective ultrasound at 18 weeks with DD the tech mentioned it, but it must have moved because my doctors never said anything about it (and I had a level II ultrasound with an MFM) and I had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery of a healthy baby.
