    Question Progesterone question

My name is Brittany and I was just diagnosed with PCOS i'm 22 years old. I also am pre diabetic and i have iron deficiency anemia (because of the super long and heavy periods). My gyno just put me on progesterone to regulate my period and I was wondering if any of you were put on that and how well it works for you. she told me it will take a while for my cycle to become normal again. I just started my progesterone today at 2 pm lol and I'm already having a little bit of a loss of appetite. Idk I just haven't been that hungry today after i took that medicine. idk if that is normal or not but I"m going to call my gyno tomorrow but I was wondering what other side effects any of you have experienced?

My primary doctor wasn't very well at explaining to me anything (while my gyno was) and I have had to find out everything myself really. I want to say thank you all in advance for all of your hellp so far

What kind of progesterone did they give you, Provera? How long will you be taking it?

Welcome to the boards, I'm sure you'll find lots of good information here.

I've taken Provera twice, both times to induce my period. I had 2 rounds of 10-day courses of Provera. The first time my period came a few days into the pills. The second time it came within 5 days of finishing the round. I didn't have many side effects, just some sore boobs.

I am on provera for my cycles at the moment as im also on clomid.

It took almost a week for my period to start after stopping taking it. Worst symptoms were hot flushes, low mood and feeling bit yucky. But sometimes i feel like that anyway so hard to know if was definately provera, guess ill know for sure in 6 weeks when I have to take it again

Are you not ovulating on the clomid?

Not sure yet they are doing a blood test on day 21 to check progesterone not sure if that tells them if i ovulated. I have been told to take provera if my period doesnt come after 6 weeks. They are not scanning me or anything though. Lookslike they basically leave you to it now which is so different to when I had my daughter

The blood test is good, just be careful - it may come back low if you didn't ovulate on CD14/15. If you ovulate late on clomid, like many women do, you can't put much stock in doing the test right on CD21. I can't remember - are you temping?

was gonna try temping but struggled to get hold of the right thermometer, tried pharmacys but no luck. I know I can get them online but didnt have time for this cycle.

From my other post though from the symptoms im having i guess it may mean i am ovulating, which would be day 15 today.

You dont need a special thermometer. Just get one that saves the last temp. that way if you fall asleep after taking it you wont lose it lol

I would get a BBT - I've seen women do it with a regular fever thermometer but I think it makes chart interpretation more difficult.

Has anyone not had AF after taking Progesterone? I am taking 200mg(generic) for 12 days. The first month I started taking it I had no problem. Then my GYNO told me to take it on Day 16..from the first day of the last AF..so I did..and now a month and a half later still no AF. I am taking the next dose to start the process all over. I have took these about 4 years ago and never had that problem..just curious!?!

How long since your last period? It's possible you don't have much lining to shed - did you get spotting or anything?
