Hmmm, SC is having trouble posting links it seems. Just try googling "how to check cervical mucus" and you should get several good hits that explain it in depth. I know Fertility Friend (fertilityfriend.com has an ebook under their Charting FAQs), free for download that has a whole section on how to check CM. But basically yes, you stick a clean finger(s) up there and sweep your cervix to see/feel what type of CM you have that day.

But basically, you stick a clean finger(s) in and sweep your cervix to see what type of CM you have that day.
I check mine first thing after temping in the AM before using the bathroom.

I've never really had to sweep to check it. When I have EWCM, it's all over the TP when I go to the bathroom. But I have have read that you are supposed to sweep inside your vagina with two fingers and spread your fingers apart and check CM for stretchiness.
Hope I made myself clear.

I wash my hands and then run my finger along the lip on my cervix, after checking it of course. Then put the 2 ingers together and pull apart. check to see how much it stretches.
