Every other month periods?
I used to get periods every single month when I was 130 pounds and under. Now I get my period about every 2-2.5 months. I know it could be worse. Anyway, why is it that my periods may be farther apart? Is it because one of my ovaries might not work on one side, or is it simply because my hormones are unbalanced and I'm probably not ovulating?

I don't think it means one of your ovaries isn't functioning. Even when one ovary is missing (for various reasons, not PCOS), basically women can have normal periods every month, if there's no hormonal imbalance.
PCOS is a hormonal disease, and hormones are responsible for the functioning of both ovaries equally. (By the way, that's why most of PCOS women who have cysts on their ovaries have them on both.) If your periods are less regular now, or are farther apart, it might indicate the hormonal imbalance is greater now. Weight gain, as well as other possible factors, can make it worse. When I started losing weight it really helped me with my cycles, and also many other aspects of PCOS.
Maybe you should also consult your doctor, to make sure there's nothing else that causes it. BCP and other medicines can help maintain regular cycles as well.

My periods are a 45-70 day cycle (very irregular), so normally every 2 months or so. When I am on Metfomin they are text book 28-30 day cycles.
I recently got pregnant naturally, it ended in miscarriage, but even with 2 month long cycles I was ovulating... so i wouldn't assume you don't.Darlene (30) married to Wes (34)

Thanks ladies! This gives me some hope! When I was thinner my periods were regular, so I'm hoping weight loss will help!
