Hi! I am pretty new here. I couldn't find a chart stalking board, so feel free to direct me. In the meantime, I was hoping to get some insight!

Here's some background, and then my chart is below.

I just learned in February that I have polycycstic ovaries. We have been TTC since July 2011. This cycle I took 100mg of Clomid CD5-9 and began taking 1000mg Metformin daily starting on CD3 (after having CD3 testing including the blood glucose challenge which came back normal).

I went in for an u/s on CD11 and it didn't look like I was going to O. The dr told me to give it 2 more weeks, take opks, and if I didn't get a + to call for a prescription to Provera and start over. I called for the prescription, but THEN I got an "almost positive" opk...it was very close. So I decided to wait a few more days before starting Provera. Well, then I ran out of opks, so I bought some more from the dollar store, and when I used those up, I decided it was over and I'd get my Provera. So that day I did not take an OPK, and that is the day that I probably would have gotten a positive, because the next day my temp dipped and the following day it rose. (So I never started taking the Provera.) I tried to call the dr to get a P4 test to confirm ovulation. I left 2 messages and never got a call back, so 7dpo came and went and I didn't get O confirmed. Now I have 2 MORE calls into my dr because I think I either need an u/s to check for a luteal cyst, or an hcg blood test, or something! Because tomorrow will be 21dpo and I have been getting BFNs every day on hpts.

I had very, very faint brown spotting for 9 days, but that stopped today. I had some cramping over the weekend. The past few days I have felt sort of bloated with some mild headaches and tiredness, but all of that could probably be attributed to other factors. So I really don't have any symptoms. I just don't know what to think, and being unable to get through to my dr has just added to the frustration. Also, I have a dental checkup on Thursday, and I'd like to know for sure whether I'm pregnant by then so that they can do xrays.

It does look like you O'd. I would continue trying to reach your doctor (or maybe go to the health department and ask them to test? my local one does tests for free). If you haven't go a definite yes/no to pregnancy by your dentist appointment, I would ask to wear a lead apron to be on the safe side. I had dental work and x-rays while pregnant (my wisdom teeth impacted and got infected so they had to come out) and they put one of the aprons on me during X-rays to shield the baby.

2 cycles ago I had a similar chart, I bled super lightly for 2 days with some more spotting to make "AF" 6 days, yet my temps stayed way elevated for another week+ after I had bled, and I was sure I was pg too. But BFNS up thru "DPO21" and eventually my temps came back down in the revised cycle (assuming that light bleed was AF) at CD7. I think it was a luteal cyst. I'm also noticing my charts are running very hot in general, so I think I may be starting to be perimenopausal.

You chart does look like you've ovulated tho.

Clomid can also thin your lining. If that happened the spotting could have been your period. When my lining was thin my period was nothing more than scant spotting bc there was nothing to shed.

Also it looks like it's possible you tried to O cd29 and maybe didn't quite get there and maybe didn't O until cdcd35. In months where my body has tried more than once I get that dip rise , up/down pattern but temps don't really go up up until I finally O for real. Also another possibility making you 14dpo.

Finally got into the dr this morning. He glanced at my BBT chart and told me he doesn't put much faith in those. :/ He said he doesn't think I O'd. I told him how I had tried to get the P4 test to confirm O and that way I wouldn't have had to wait this long- he said that test wouldn't have confirmed O. -- Hmm that is not what I had heard. ?

I asked him if he thinks I have a luteal cyst and he didn't even do an u/s to check, just kept saying I never O'd.

I convinced him to do an hcg quantitative just so that I could have peace of mind. Oh he also said I could have been taking provera all along and that it's not harmful to pregnancy and actually is used to help sustain pregnancy. I thought that was an outdated practice and that other progesterone meds were used since provera can cause birth defects?!?! WTF is with doctors here?

Then he gave me a speech about how he is using things that are proven with science and that is how he is proceeding. Basically telling me that I don't know what I'm talking about.

I know I didn't go to med school, but why do my friends seem to hear the opposite things from their RE plus things I find online seem to be the opposite of what I'm being told. This is already the 3rd dr I have started seeing since moving here, and we don't have an RE here. I swear I'm not a difficult person to work with....usually I am very easy to get along with. I just don't understand why I am getting nowhere with these doctors.

I am going to do 1 more cycle with this doctor and see how it goes. He is upping my dose of Clomid to 200mg. I just HOPE that my blood test today turns out that I'm pregnant....plus it would be nice for me to prove the dr wrong! And of course it would be wonderful to finally be pregnant after all these months.

Hmm as for Clomid thinning my lining, I really wish he had done the u/s now because then I would have had an idea. Usually my lining gets too thick and AF is very very long and heavy (for a whole month once). That could have answered whether these 9 days of spotting were AF. The spotting was very, very faint though. Didn't even need a pantiliner- the toilet paper was just slightly tinted brown when wiping or I would have a tiny bit of brown CM (sorry for the TMI).

I know you said that you 've already tried other doctors but after hearing this I would NEVER go back there. He isn't listening to you at all which is a big problem. PROVERA is a HUGE no no in pregnancy and in teh 2ww. You are totally right that the practice of provera in the 2ww is WAY outdated. It's classified as a class X drug- VERY bad for pregnancy!!!

Also a progesterone level p4 drawn 7 days after O or suspected O WILL tell you if you O'd or not.

Honestly at this point he can't say for sure either way since he didn't do labs.

If that was your period- that scant spotting ( which is EXACTLY what my periods were like with thin lining issues on oral meds- not even a panty liner needed!) going up in dose on the clomid will only hurt your lining further.

I would never go back to a doctor who told me so many incorrect things int he same visit. He sounds like he's working about 40 years ago with no knowledge of anything that's changed since then. Is this just an OB? You don't have any options of fertility specialists or REs in the area?

Katie- that is really concerning!!! I'm going to have to think about this.

Yes, he is just an obgyn. We don't have an RE here. I think my closest one would be a 2 1/2 hr drive away. There are only 1 or 2 doctors left here who are covered under my insurance, I think. I am really unsure of what to do. I am not confrontational at all! I can't see myself handing him documents about Provera or anything. But at least I know to refuse to take it if I could be pregnant. I am not taking my current prescription for it until I hear back about my blood test.

The only reason why I don't suspect that the spotting was AF is because my temp is still elevated. Normally my temp is low the whole time or maybe elevated for one day of AF, but not the whole time and beyond. I will keep that in mind though about Clomid thinning my lining. It's so frustrating not to have my body work correctly. :/

Well it turns out my hcg was less than 2, definitely not pregnant. I really don't understand why my chart looks like this then, and whether I should even continue charting... thanks for the help... I asked a former coworker who had told me she has PCOS whether she goes to an RE in town or what, so hopefully I will have some other options.
