Default Broken blood vessels on lower abdomen- what could it be?

OK, so admittedly my grooming downstairs has been a little lacking the past few months but I decided to get out a mirror and see just how bad it really is before delivery (haha). Anyway, I noticed a larger than silver dollar size circle of bright red broken blood vessels on my lower tummy. It almost looks like a huge hickey,or bruise but it doesn't hurt to the touch. I'm going to ask my OB about it since I have my 36 week check up tomorrow but I was curious if anyone has experienced anything similar? I don't think it's been there very long since I have twice weekly NST's and have never noticed it but it is very low almost near my bikini line and well hidden by my belly.

Could the baby have kicked you in that area? I had a friend recently that had something like this happen but it was in the middle of her stomach. It ended up being the baby had kicked her so hard it caused a bruise. KUP on what the doc says.

I forgot to ask the OB about it. I got too excited when he did a cervix check and showed I'm 3cm. Obviously this could mean I still will go to full term but given I've already been told I have a large baby I'm hoping to go a little early or at least be favorable for induciton.

I did google it and it sounds like broken capillaries can be common. We'll see if it is still there next week.

I think you're really brave for busting out that mirror! I have been trying to shave down there (well at least trim things up a bit) but I can't see a darn thing and I always end up with nicks. I may just have to give up!

I wonder if it could be an ingrown hair? I have gotten one or two that sounds exactly like what you are describing....

Is it a stretch mark? They can start out red and angry looking.

They seem to be fading so I guess it's nothing to worry about. Very strange.

The only time I ever get bruises on my lower tummy is from the occassional Insulin jab that leaves a mark. They can leave nasty bruises on me tho.
