Default Trental (pentoxifylline) & Vitamin E to Thicken Uterine Lining

Has anyone tried using trental 800mgs a day with 1000mg a day of vitamin E to make your lining more thick?

If so, how long did it take to work and how much thicker did it get?

I never heard of this myself, but I really hope that it works for you!!! I didn't want to not respond, but I apologize that I was not more helpful. Good Luck with your upcoming FET!!!!

    Hi

I have just been prescribed Trental (Pentoxyfilline) 400mg and Vitamin E 400mg one of each twice a day. Currently doing dummy cycle to monitor my lining thickness with intention of doing real thing in November with frozen embryos. Didn't take it on my first IVF treatment cycle (which was successful) where I struggled to get my lining above 7mm but eventually with increased oestrogen, vitamin E supplements, hot water bottle on tummy after taking oestrogen, and arginine rich foods, I got up to 8.9mm on day of transfer. Bit wary about taking different medications to last time especially as this seems to have a lot of side effects. Would be interested to know if you took it in the end and how you got on?

    Many Thanks

    Rainster:
I actually didn't have the best experience with the trental. It caused me to have heart palpitations and I had to stop taking it. But I know a couple of girls over on the IVF buddy board who have had success with it.

My lining went up about 1mm more when I took it.

For me, the best FET prep I have found is doing an ovulation induction FET (OI FET) with low dose stim meds. So I stim like I'm going to do an IUI and then trigger (don't BD) and then do the FET. My lining is in the high 8's instead of the low 7's when I do that.

I had to cancel my FET because the lab "lost" my embryos, long story and very expensive for them, but now I'm with a new RE. She has said that she combines estrace with follistim for a FET prep and has had success that way. So she basically does a combo cycle prep.

Also, taking L'arginine (don't know if it was 1,000 or 2,000 a day) really helped "RMien" on this board so you could PM her about it.

    Good luck!

    Hi DavidesWife

Thanks for replying. Sorry to hear about your lab mess up, unbelievable.

Didn't understand some of what you said as I don't have a natural cycle on my own, so don't need to stim, probably why I struggle with my lining. Have now increased my estrogen dose up to 8mg a day, as that is what I was on last dummy cycle at this stage, then was up to 10mg the last four days. Have another scan on Thursday so will see how that goes, plus will up my dose of the l-arginine supplement I am already taking. If that works, then don't see the need to take the additional medication as I didn't need it last time, but I am nearly five years older this time. Otherwise will start it on Friday and have to stay on it until the transfer in November. Apparently it can take a number of weeks to start working.

Apparently I can't PM until I have posted at least five times, but will try to find some posts from Rmien about the l-arginine

Best of luck with your treatment.

    Rain:
    Best of luck!

What I was suggesting was an alternative way to using estrogen to thicken the lining. Starting on CD3 you stim your ovaries with meds which makes estrogen naturally and thickens your lining that way. If you have ovaries, then this can work better than trying to thicken the lining the way you are doing it now. It's just an alternative method that I find has worked better for me.

I'm hoping you won't need the additional meds or a change in protocol. Good luck!
