Default What does it feel like when a cyst ruptures???

I think I may have had a cyst rupture, but I really don't know because I don't know what it feels like. I was just sitting in class this afternoon and it felt like someone stabbed me in the stomach. The pain lasted for quite a while, and it still hurts a little now. I hope it wasn't a cyst, but I don't know what else it could be. I haven't had any cysts before, so they would have developed in just the last few months. What other symptoms do you have when one ruptures? I am totally clueless, in pain, and can't get in to see my MD until next Thursday.

Well I am not an expert, but maybe other cysters will have better information for ya.
But when I have had cysts pop, I have had alot of SEVERE pain. that sometimes would then continue for awhile. In my experince, I prefer that they pop, than just get bigger, the bigger they get the more painful.

FYI- If you are having severe pain in your lower right side, and have had flu like symptoms, ya might want to make sure it isn't your appendix- Don't ignore that pain!!

They normally can't tell if you had one pop. Just my experinces. They usually just guess you have, cause if it has popped, it won't show up on the ultrasound!

Well Good luck at the Doctor, until that take it easy, and get check right away if ya think it might be your appendix.

It hurt on the left side, not the right, so it wasn't my appendix. I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow since I can't get in with my GYN. It still hurts a little, if I move to quick it hurts more. It really hurt for a good 4 hours yesterday, and is still a dull ache. Thank you for replying Jilly!!!

a popping cyst? that one i can answer..... it is like having a bad cramp on one side only, then it burns ( at least mine do)
the very first time i had a cyst pop, it dropped me to my knees... the second time it happened, i was lucky/unlucky enough to have it happen while having an u/s done.
