    Arrow update

    Hello ladies!
I'm having my second gyno app this afternoon. I have an u/s at 3pm and then I'm seeing my gyno at 3:45. This is my last chance for getting the met from her. I want to thank all of you for all the support and advices. I've printed some articles about the met but I'm not sure she'll want to take a look at them. You know my first app with her was a disaster. i'll keep you posted.
    Wish me luck

    Good Luck Angela!

Stay cool and calm, but be clear about what you want and your reasons for wanting it!

I've got a gynae appointment on Monday, I'm lucky my gynae is really nice.

    Hello!
Well, there are good news and bad news. the good news are i don't have any cysts and the bad news are I didn't got the met
But,am I the only one that can't make her gyno listen? I showed her the articles and she said they are only trials and researches and she doesn't believe in them. Every time I opened my mouth to say something she wouldn't listen.....she said she doesn't want to prescribe me the met and that she thinks she has to take it low with me (God knows what she meant by that). Obviously by taking low she meant putting me on stronger bcp, thats what she said i need. She said she'll contact my GP and she'll give her instructions on putting me on stronger bcp,but that's not what I want!!
I said that i'm gaining weight on the bcp and she said thats not due to the bcp,its because of my appetite! Oh that really upset me!
I'm really getting tired and fed up of all of this. they keep saying that I should give time for the bcp to work but i'm on it for 7 months and nothing happened.
I asked her to keep the articles and study them a little bit and think about it. She said she will but I don't think she'll change her mind.
I'm looking for an endo now!

Oh,I forgot to tell you about this. This is the part that upset me the most. During my gyno app there was another woman present in the room. I have no idea who she was, maybe she was another doctor or student....but I didn't like her presence in the room.
Every time I would of mention weight or facial hair, she was leaning down and keep staring in my face or my bump
I didn't feel comfortable at all. I don't care if she was another doctor, when I go to see my gyno thats what I expect-my gyno only. Am I being too sensitive? Thats not a freak show, its my app and I want some privacy there.
I wanted to ask who she was but I didn't. Now I think I should have done that.
Enough about me,sorry this is too long, but I had to take it off my chest.

    Unhappy hi angela

    angela,
you sound like you are in the same boat as me!!! i never get to ask questions or speak to my gynae whos really nasty and dismissive. have you thought bout asking to go to another hospital? i did i went to nottingham for a second opinion it was so different than here in leicester, the doctor was so nice and helpful.
i had to go to hospital last week and the whole thing was a nightmare, everytime i asked a question i was knocked back down and dismissed, i came out feeling angry and belittled, im seriously considering asking to go back to nottingham queens again, its just the travelling thats a pain as i dont drive, but saying that again its not far from me just awkward.anyway take care and good luck, let me know how you get on.

    Unhappy students present!!!!!!!!

    angela me too!!!!!!
there i was last week on the examination bed legs wide open and 4 students having a good look!!!!!! ive never felt so embarresed in all of my life, but you can say if you dont want them there, i made a remark that i felt silly during all of this and they just looked at me gone out!!!
its so embarresing when they start talking bout the facial hair and stuff, you can feel all there eyes looking at where the hair is and i sit there cringing and wishing the ground would open up!!!
it may be a job to them but sometimes there bedside manner is terrible, i mean its hard enough for us why make it harder?

Grrrrr, what a stupid doctor! All of the pcos research done in the last 2 - 5 years has shown that metformin is the best treatment for pcos and she 'doesn't believe it'!!! Sometimes I think we should be allowed to take a baseball bat to doctors appointments and every time they say something stupid we are allowed to hit them

This women obviously knows nothing about pcos, good luck finding an endo! I hope they know more. The bcp (especially dianette) is a terrible treatment for pcos. And the only reason you don't have any cysts is because the bcp has shut down your ovaries, but its still making the IR worse!

And I just thought I'd let you know that if you get really desperate and can't get the proper medicines from a doctor, you can buy them over the internet. I buy my metformin and spiro from the internet. Its much easier than trying to educate moronic doctors .

Julie, which doctor did you see in Nottingham? Were they an endo or a gyn? I live near the QMC so if there is a good doctor (do they exist?? ) there I might ask to see them.

    Smile nottingham queens medical centre

    hi starcat,
the doctor i saw at queens was a gynae and his name was mr mascararanus, think ive spelt it right .....lol
that was last november time, he was so lovely not patonizing or dismissive really kind and helpful. anyway here comes the bad news, rang my auntie in calverton who worked at queens, she then rang her friend who still works there and she said its a new doctor sounds arabic or something[ cant say the name ] anyway she did say that the doctors move around then go back to the same hospital so im going to ring and check to see if he comes back. i really hope he does, cant you find out it should be in the phone book? it says who the docs are in our phone book and were only a few miles away arent we?
take care [ sorry for waffling ]

    Julie,
I think next time I'm going to see an endo in Southampton. I don't drive too and the trip is killing me,but obviously I can't deal with the doctors here.
Cat,I was thinking about getting the met off the internet but I thought I should give the doctors a chance. Where are you getting it from if you don't mind me asking?

    Cheers

    Smile angela

    angela,
is there anyway you can see another gynae but stay at the same hospital? i know we have 8 or 9 different ones here in leics but still at the same hospital, go back to your gp and tell your gp that you arent happy with your gynae and ask if would mind sending you for a second opinion, after all you have nothing to lose. i got a second opinion and if things dont change with my present gynae im going to ask to be referred back to nottingham.

    Julie,
i've already seen 2 different gynos in the same hospital and yesterday they told me that their chief is not happy about them prescribing the met!!! I forgot to mention that part.
So,I don't want to waste my time on them anymore. I really think that endo will be more helpful in my case

    Cheers

    hi angela,
i think you would be a lot better off asking the endo to prescribe the metformin, my gynae shruggs me off when i mention met or anything else, but the endo is a bit more knowledgeable bout medicines to control pcos, anyway good luck please let us know how you get on.
