prometrium is not working

I finished taking my last pill on Monday of prometrium to bring on af, and she's still not here, I'm getting very anxious can anyone tell me if you had this problem before, how long does it usually take. I have been cramping alittle but thats it.

I'm not sure on prometrium, but for provera which is similar, it can take up to 2 weeks after the last pill before af shows up.

Prometrium doesn't seem to be working for me either. My doc said to take it the 1st day I "see" any sign of af. Well, for me the past 2 cycles, that has been barely a light pink showing. So you would think that immediately once I begin the pills a more deliberate flow would occur; it does not. Sometimes it stops altogether and sometimes it kicks in after the 4th or 5th pill just a little bit - only enough to wear a lightdays pantyliner or light tampon for only a day - 2 max. I thought I would try it one more month and if this happens again, I'm going to give my dr. a call. Any advice cysters?

at least your getting a light blead, I don't get anything. This is my first cycle, so next time I think I will try a higher dosage and see if that works. I have been getting cramping and lower back pain and signs of af but nothing so far.

What is your dosage? Mine is 200 mg but I know there is a 400 mg avail. too. I hope something works out for you!

I've never heard of taking progesterone in this way. If bleeding already starts, why take the prometrium?? Did your doctor say why to do it this way?? It is the stopping of progesterone that causes the lining to shed.

I'm taking 200mg, I was told to take on the first of the month to the 12th, but since we will be on vacation from August 3rd to the 19 I decided to take it early before our vacation ,well my last pill was 9 days ago and nothing, I think I will try it again when I get back from vacation but a higher dosage, thanks again ladies for your replies.

I did all 12 days of prometirum, and have waited the 14 days required and no AF! I haven't had any spotting or anything! My dr says this indicates low estrogen. (the lack of withdrawl bleeding after prometrium) He says there are only a few reasons for low estrogen, premature ovarian faliure, pregnancy, thyroid problems, or pituatary problems. I think he's over reacting. Have any of you heard this from your dr?? lisa

I have heard of those things being possible reasons, but there may be more to it. Keep prodding your dr. or get a 2nd opinion. I am totally confused now b/c after reading the posts on prometrium, I am convinced that I have not been directed to take it correctly. I am calling my dr. Monday am!

I just found out I have been taking Prometrium incorrectly! Instead of taking it beginning day 1 of first sign of af for 10 days, I am to take it Aug. 1-10, Sept. 1-10, etc. ! I have just lost 3 months of progress! Very disappointing. What is frustrating is right after I returned home from the dr. appt. in which he wrote the prescription, I called to double-check the instructions. The nursing staff verified what I thought instead of correcting my misunderstanding.
