    Default Might be miscarrying

    Hi,

I am about 7 weeks pregnant. I had a vaginal ultrasound today which showed a large sac with a small foetus measuring about 4.8mm. There was a heartbeat measuring 90 beats/min. According to the doctor, the pregnancy is not viable and I should miscarry. I want to wait for a week before stopping the progesterone.

Is there any disadvantage to prolonging the pregnancy if it is eventually going to miscarry?

Also, at this stage would I miscarry by having bleeding or would I need a D&C?

At what stage would a D&C be necessary?

    thanks.

Did your doctor explain WHY he didn't think this pregnancy is viable? If there is a heartbeat, then I don't understand. I'm sorry I don't know the answers to your questions, but I am sorry you are going through this. I would definitely continue the progesterone in case the doctor is wrong. Since there is a heartbeat, I'd say there is a good chance that he is.

I am sorry for the stress you are going through right now. I agree with everything Adrianne says above. Can you request another u/s in about a week?

I agree with what Adrianne said as well. If there is a heartbeat and you are on progesterone and you have had your betas done then I don't think you should stop taking the progesterone. Just to be on the safe side. Sometimes the sac is just large *shrugs* I will be praying for you. Please let us know how things go, okies?

    *hugs*

I don't understand why your dr is being so negative. You have a baby in there w/ a h/b. I would get a second opinion. I definately would not stop taking the progesterone.
