I want to try the Nutrisystem food program, but since the foods are all packaged/canned and not refrigerated, does that mean they are high in sodium? I have hypertension and have been told to cut back on salt.
Thanks for any feedback ~

the daily recommended allowance for sodium is 2400mg for people who don't have hypertenstion. i have high blood pressure and i had to give my husband and kids the nutrisystem because i was exceeding the RDA. it's one reason i can't eat packaged weight watchers food too.maybe it was just me and my particular case...but the prepackaged food sent my blood pressure into orbit...it was regularly 150's/100's.

i couldn't remember where i read that people w/hypertension should have less than the 2400mg RDA of sodium. this website has a PDF file regarding the DASH eating plan (also type DASH into your search engine) DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension...it's very informative!
i'm not knocking nutr isystem because it certainly has its place...just not with me.
