Thread: Anyone use Tazorac cream?

    Default Anyone use Tazorac cream?

I just started it 3 days ago. My derm prescribed it for acne and to help with hyperpigmentation. I just noticed that my skin is incredibly dry and flaky. I know this is an initial side effect of most acne medications, but I just wanted to hear about other people's experiences with it. Does the dryness go away? How long until it does?

    Thanks!

I'm using the cream, and today my face is all red, and peeling so bad I didn't even want to go out in public. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep using it.

I am on Tazorac 1% cream, as well as Doxycycline(anti-biotic) and Cleania(sulfur based product that calms my skin.) For the first month, I looked horrible, my skin got worse, and then all of a sudden it was like my skin got used to it overnight, and I woke up with good skin again. My acne is almost gone, the redness is going away and I pretty much go without foundation now. I would use some moisturizer right now to help your skin feel better during this time that your skin is getting used to Tazorac, like Purpose or Neutrogena Oil Free, and I only put Tazorac on for an hour, I made the mistake of ignoring my derm's advice, and left it on all night, and it was disastrous for a few days so make sure you follow the directions to a t. I bought this face wash called Clean and and Clear sensitive skin Deep Action Cream Cleaner with moisturizers and salicylic acid, so it helps clear your skin but it's not overdrying or harsh, and once I added this to the regimen, my face got really is soft and feels nice and clean. It's new and I absolutely love this face wash and it's not expensive which is good considering how much I have to dish out for the prescriptions, lol. I read on a forum about acne that some people never really adjust to Tazorac but with all meds it's a matter of trial and error, and if you don't like this one, I used to be on Differin and it also helped me a lot but I guess my derm decided to go with Tazorac now so you might want to ask about that one as well if Tazorac doesn't help you in several months. Good luck
