Question Saw Palmetto results for acne????

I am hoping to get some feedback good or bad regarding experiences with those who have tried saw palmetto for acne. Any side effects?
I have tried EVERYTHING having spent $55,000 over the past 6 years on a solution....and no i am not by any means wealthy...i am just now Extremely in debt because of my acne. I always say however, if it has a possiblity of working I will spend any amount of $$ on it.
My acne is mainly just on my jaw line and neck...occasional ones on my face but not bad at all. The ones on my jaw line and neck are cysts and take FOREVER to do anything at all.
Any help or advice is welcome!!!

Misser-I have not tried saw palmetto but I wanted to tell you about what has helped me.

Yasmin BCP is what has worked best for me, well, its really the only thing that has worked for me. I went to the dermatologist from age 11-22 and tried EVERYTHING....accutane, retin-a, erythromycin, tetracycline, prescription face washes just to name a few and nothing ever worked. The only other thing that ever even helped was the Differin Solution (the cream and gel did not help) but still did not get rid of it. Luckily they did the light treatments and the CO2 spray treatments on my face so I do not have any scarring. My mom paid for most of my acne treatments but also, our insurance paid all but $20 co-pay for derm. visits and $20 co-pay for each prescription which still wound up being a good $5000 at least over those 11 years.

Anyway, I was diagnosed w/ PCOS at age 22 and immediately put on Yasmin and within a few months, my acne was gone and did not come back until I went off the Yasmin in April of this year to try NPC for the next 6 months until we start TTC. Well, my acne and oily skin came back w/ a vengence in only 1 month and so I have gone back on the Yasmin until we are actually ready to start TTC. Then, I don't know what I will do. Hopefully, my dr will let me take some type of androgen blocker while TTC (because obviously testosterone is what is causing the acne in me). It makes sense that the Saw Palmetto would work, I thought about trying that but the month I was off the Yasmin, I did not have AF either so I thought instead of taking SP for acne and something else for AF, I would just go back to the Yasmin for now. I know how frustrating it is. I hope you find something that will help.

Thank you very much for your reply and information. However, I did try Yasmin and in 5 days of being on it....my cystic acne got 100% worse and it made me a little nutty....just didn't feel like myself and could have cried at the drop of a hat. I stayed on it for 3 weeks and everything was just getting worse. I went off it and I am now back on the BC Patch. I have been taking Saw Palmetto for a little over a month now and hoping that it will do something.

    We'll see I suppose.
    Thank you again!

misser------I can't afford a lot, but I am a preferred customer of Melaleuca products(I also sell)....and their acne wash, pore clarifying cream and zap it quick spot really helped my skin....I was skeptical but I've really noticed a difference and so has people around me. You can get their stuff on ebay.... I'm trying the natural approach before I try birth control pills.
