Ultrasound Results

Hi everyone. I posted a while ago because I couldn't understand my ultrasound results. Well I went to my GP on Friday and the good news is that while I have lots of cysts on my ovaries, they are both normal size. The bad news is that they have found a growth on my uterus which "requires further invesitgation". My GP thinks it's a fibroid or a polyp, but was quite adamant I get to a gynaecologist as soon as possible. I thought these things were ok as long as they didn't cause a lot of bleeding or pain. I have neither of these, though I am prone to passing large blood clots during my period and get nasty premenstrual pain (but not debilitating). I know there must be lots of you out there that know more than me so would appreciate some input.

I had a polyp in my uterus they found it in January. It also caused me to pass a lot of pretty nasty clots when I had AF. I would say that's probably what you have (not that I'm a doctor) they say they are quite common and easily fixed. But they do need to be removed. I don't *think* they go away on their own, and could probably turn into something not so good if left. Also, if you are ttc it can prevent you from getting pregnant because it prevents implantation, and if by chance implantation did occur, it would probably cause a m/c because it takes up room that the baby would need to grow. So, you definitely do need to get it checked out, but please TRY not to worry because it really is an easy fix. I did have to have "surgery" to remove mine...but it was a simple outpatient procedure (hysteroscopy & d&c) and I didn't have any pain afterwards or anything. I hope that this makes sense, I just woke up...lol. Hope that helps some too. Good luck, I will say a prayer for ya that it's something "simple" like a polyp. Let us know how it goes! HTH.

Thanks so much. I'm not really that worried about the potential polyp, more about the surgery. I've never had anything liek that done before. But I am plsnning a pregnancy in the next year so thank God it was found really now before I may have had to go through a miscarriage.

I have a polyp on my cervix (it formed in the scar tissue from my cerclage). My doc opted to leave it in place unless/until I get another cerclage.

But he did say that if he couldn't SEE it and tell it was nothing, he would've removed it to check it out. Your docs are just being careful. They'd have a lot of explaining to do if they took the obvious answer, and it turned out to be the rare problem!

I was recently diagnosed with a small submucousal fibroid (apparently the worst kind) after seeking treatment for nasty, clotty, heavy AF. If this is what you have, it may be no big deal - I've had great luck with bcp (once we found the right one) and hopefully will not need to have it removed. Try not to worry about surgery until you know what you have at least. You might not even need it! Good luck.
