Siberian Adoption Story on Discovery Health

Tonight there's a program on about Siberian Adoptions on Discovery Health. It's on here now (7PM CST) & replays @ 10PM CST. Even though I'm not adopting from Russia, it's good to see the process for another international adoption

It was on OK show. The couple was kinda annoying me but the single woman was nice. Apparently, it's going to be a series....they should do that w/ China adoptions too! I think I'm going to email them!

I saw it! It was the first adoption show I've ever seen! I was so excited over watching this show. The couple annoyed me too, but the 44 year (I think she was 44) was wonderful! And the process didn't seem so scary, but wow nerve wrecking.

My husband and I talked about adopting years ago and after seeing this show the idea wasn't so abstract anymore. I couldn't wait to tell my DH as soon as he got home that evening how I really want to do this.

We already have a sweet little guy almost age 3 (home birth). We are planning to adopt a little girl from China or Russia.

I watched the show today and to be honest I was seriously disturbed by the blonde couple. They were not prepared at all for adopting, their hearts were not in the right place. You cannot predict how the health of your biological child will be so why do they expect more for an adopted child. My husband and I adopted a baby girl from Colombia this year. It was the most amazing thing we ever did. She is perfect. We had to wait 8 days to decide on her but my mind was made up before we had even been matched. We knew that we would take whatever child God gave us. I hope the child this couple adopted is treated like their bio kids and never feels like she is less loved. I am seriously concerned for her well being with this family.

I've seen this show as well. I thought the Blonde haired women was a little brutal. I mean come on...she was freaking out. Totally not ready for something like that.

Neeci, congratulations, it's good to see another Colombia mom on here! We adopted our son, Samuel, from Colombia in October 2004. Sam is from Bogota, mind if I ask where your DD is from?

That's great. Yes we adopted her from the ICBF in bogota. My husband's dad is from colombia and my husband has his colombian citizenship so the process was pretty quick. We turned our papers in in august and we had a baby by november 15 of last year. the adoption finalized in february. We cant wait to do it again.

This show was on a few years ago.. I too was very disturbed by the couple. It seemed as if she was really just wanting this little doll and not really caring about the baby. I thought she was extremely cold. I wonder how it turned out for them.

I wonder too, I wish they would do updates on some of these shows!

congrats on your adoption Neeci! I completely agree with you. We had our minds made up even before we knew who our DD was that we would accept her no matter what b/c you never know what issues you'll have w/ a biological child either!

The blond couple was very annoying and seemed obsessed with having a blond child. When they return to Siberia in the future she will have blond hair and be tan.............I can not believe they actually said that. Are they going to dye her hair blond if she does not have naturally blond hair and tanning is really bad for anyone especially young children. They gave Americans a bad name!
