    Default Barilla Plus Pasta

Tonight I tried Barilla Plus pasta for the first time, and I think it's better than the regular stuff! It contains grain & legume flour blend (lentils, chickpeas, oats, spelt, barley, ground flaxseed and wheat fiber) plus niacine, thiamin, riboflavin and flolic acid, plus the normal pasta ingredients of semolina & egg whites.

In a 2 oz serving it has Carbs 38g, Dietary fiber 4g and protein 10g. I know it's not exactly linked and balanced for us IR Dieters, but it's much better than plain pasta. I bought it thinking it was whole wheat pasta (which I'm not crazy about, but I eat because I think it's better for me). Like I said, it tastes great and NO SOY was used to bump the protein content. I'm a little scared of Soy because it's been shown to increase= estrogen which can lead to increased risk of breast cancer. Most people probably shouldn't worry about it, but my family history of breast cancer is downright scary, so I try to take every precaution to avoid things in the environment that might cause cancer.

Thanks for the thread. I saw the commerical last weekend. Would this be considered a whole grain pasta, wheat pasta, or just a healthier version of the refined white flour? I've been hoping on the rare occasions when I eat out at restaurants that they would offer healthier verisons of the pasta. I'm a chicken alfredo lover.

It does not mention having any white flour in it (although I'm not sure what semolina is made from). I would call is whole grain pasta, but I'm not sure if that is precise. It has much more fiber in it than even whole grain pasta does.
