Default I would just try some..

warm milk w/sugar and vanilla, some soothing music, a back rub from DH, or a gentle massager laid on my back.

Chamomile tea is also safe and very gentle. It's quite soothing.

You should be able to pick up some insomnia relief homeopathic drops from the health food shop or pharmacy. I've been taking some by Brauer and they work a treat. I tried the other things but still found I was waking up (needing to pee mostly!).

I didn't take Valerian during pregnancy for this reason:

"Even though no reports of harm to a developing fetus or an infant have been linked to the use of valerian by pregnant or lactating women, laboratory studies have shown that it has some mutating effects on cells. Therefore, it should be avoided during pregnancy and breast-feeding."
